one in the chamber here, but decocked, safty on. But it's a double action trigger so If I forget to cock, I'm still good to go. One extra shot to fire too. If I forget and rack the slide, well then I'm back to 10 shots.

Yes, chambered and ready to go. Although I probably don't need one chambered since I have a Doberman and Pitbull that sleep in my room and wouldn't hesistate to attack any intruders
Oh, plus my dogs alert me of even the slightest noise from far away....
So if there was an intruder.....they definitely wouldn't get out of my house.Comment

In the nightstand drawer, round chambered and gun doesn't have a safety (inside holster that covers the trigger guard, but a holster without any snaps.)
My Glock also isn't too far away with two loaded mags, one inserted, but no round chambered (since I already have my primary with the round chambered).
That said, I need a shotgun. And a gun safe.Comment

I don't keep one in the chamber. There are bigger things I worry about that the second it takes me to rack a slide (assuming my revolver isn't the bedside gun).
If I was single/alone in the house, I'd have one chambered with hammer down.

I don't keep one in the chamber either. I have an HK USP9 in the nightstand locked in a case during the day, unlocked but still in a pelican case at night. Eventually I will get a gun vault, but I still won't have it chambered. I've got a 2 and a 4 year old.
I've got some time to get it out in an emergency. I live in a 2 story and have an alarm system armed at night. Unless they come in through a second story window with a ladder, I've got a few seconds to rack the slide.
It may not be ideal, but it is all I am willing to compromise with the curious little ones in the house. I have to weight my exposure to a home invasion robbery against one of the kids getting a hold of it and blowing their head off.Comment

1911 .45 next to me. Full mag of HP with none in the chamber. If a BG keeps coming after I rack it, he's getting racked!Last edited by IntoForever; 10-20-2010, 11:54 PM.With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

not technically one in the chamber, but just a thumb push away. xd40, slide locked back, mag in. a verbal and the sound of the slide racking forward should be enough, but if its not, i am now ready to rock.sigpicComment
