It's always amazing (but entertaining) when someone like the OP expresses raw opinion and doesn't seem to understand that it's not some kind of incontrovertible fact.

People buy guns for different reasons. People also differ in their opinions about what is "cool looking".

I happen to think all of my various guns look cool, and I submit that none of them are worthless. That's an opinion, not a fact, and the OP would do well to relearn the difference.

If you are insecure, you feel the need to start negative opinion threads about these things. If someone asks you for an opinion, it is fine to offer it, however...

Poor lazs seems like a okay guy, but his obstinate nature and insistence that his way is the only right one turns him into a troll. You will sometimes see this species of hand gunners at the far end of range shooting from the bench, mocking Glocks and other "newer" guns and insisting that any gun that doesn't shoot full house 44mag loads is worthless and people only buy it because it is "cool" and to play "gun games." Unfortunately, no one pays them any attention in real life so the Internet is their outlet. It is okay. They are there for the entertainment value.

Most of them. The only ones that can't be had here are Taurus Judge, Circuit Judge, and Ranch Hand. Actually, come to think of it, Ranch Hand can be PPTed here.

Most of the time.. cool looking handguns are pretty much worthless and not worth having.

Most of us who have been around a while have suffered the heartbreak of the broomhandle mauser or hsc or the fragile and unreliable but sexy luger.

Your mistake was starting your thread with this premise. People buy guns for different reasons. No I wouldn't pick a broomhandle Mauser for a self defense tool but still I'd love to own one for the love of old guns. I don't have any interest owning a Desert Eagle but it's a fine niche weapon. On the other hand I'd consider a Ranch Hand if I had the money to blow on a curiosity. These aren't weapons that I'm buying to get me out of a life threatening situation, put food on the table, or shoot 1-hole groups. I have lots of pistols and rifles that will do all of the above so I can afford a few curios and relics.

Where I agree is that I do not want a self defense weapon that isn't isn't 100% or a target pistol that doesn't meet my standards for accuracy and reliability.

i think ill weigh in here. i have a 617 taurus in 357. i love it.
my friend has a judge he uses working on the chino dairies. its not a bad shooter and fits in my hands just fine. points naturally. shoots bottles easily in 410 and 45lc.
im not too sure why taurus has a bad rep over all but i like them.

I'm wondering who appointed him the official arbiter of taste (a person or agency whose judgment or opinion is considered authoritative) in weapons. It's just peachy to have some internet Tier I Tactical Operator tell me his opinion as to which weapon I should shoot. Why would he think anyone gives a rat's rear end about his opinion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I read on this forum that it is illegal to own a Taurus Judge in CA no matter whether you legally acquired it out of state or not. My understanding is that it is considered a short-barrelled shotgun (SBS) and cannot be owned or transferred in any way.

Perhaps you might want to notify your friend of this law before he finds himself in a sticky legal situation.

Hey, I like the bench on the end. It's usually more calm. One of my favorite parts of range time is watching everybody arrive and leave, and checking out the cool looking, reliable, and perfectly-suited-for-defense weapons that they bring.
