I don't get it, the coolest guns I can think of, AR, AK, 1911, S&W revolvers to name a few, are awesome guns, whats your point? or was this thread to just bash taurus?

Who cares if a gun isn't practical and has a serious cool factor, we can buy em so why not?

It's always amazing (but entertaining) when someone like the OP expresses raw opinion and doesn't seem to understand that it's not some kind of incontrovertible fact.

People buy guns for different reasons. People also differ in their opinions about what is "cool looking".

I happen to think all of my various guns look cool, and I submit that none of them are worthless. That's an opinion, not a fact, and the OP would do well to relearn the difference.

Really, cuz last time I was at the range, the guy next to us landed most of a mag worth of brass in our stall one after the other, no jams, no prob.

              Re: Taurus proves that...

Most of the time.. cool looking handguns are pretty much worthless and not worth having.

Most of us who have been around a while have suffered the heartbreak of the broomhandle mauser or hsc or the fragile and unreliable but sexy luger.

Modern guns that really suck because they are useless are ones, arguably.. like the desert eagle.. great movie gun.. but one that any really good firearm can make look silly in any way.

Taurus/rossi though.. they have really hit the loser home runs lately. A real trifecta... the worthless and laughable "Judge" seriously.. who would want a 45 colt gun that was throated so badly that you couldn't get 10" groups at 25 yards out of a 1" group cartridge? And all so that you can shoot the worlds weakest shotgun round.. a kids .410 out of it?

Then they come up with the "ranch hand" sure.. if you watched McQueen in "wanted dead or alive" you might lust for such a worthless gun but.. even then.. back then.. if we tried to shoot a '76 or 92 one handed we figured it out.. never mind that the velocity is about the same as a revolver with less shots and you can't aim the darn thing...

Third place is a tie between their 'tracker" series which.. if built well.. could have been a decent firearm but.. well.. isn't.. and the even worse version of the "judge" in rifle/carbine form.. a real joke of a gun that.. like all the others.. looks cool to the unwary. It even has a shield of some sort to get around the problems that real 19th century revolving carbines had.. namely.. either shooting your off hand off or having the BC gap burn the crap out of it.

There are of course other cool looking guns that were horrible but it is hard for me to think of one manufacturer that has as many on their roster at one time as taurus.

well.. I may have misspoke. "most of the time" is not accurate. Should have said "some of the coolest looking handguns are pretty much worthless" and left the rest as it was.. still stand by the rest of the original post.

I see I got the desert eagle fans all upset but.. what did I really say? Only that it was easy to make the desert eagle look silly at about anything you can use a handgun in that caliber for. It simply is a prop gun. It is not "worthless" as such that is why I said "arguably". It still shoots 44 mag ammo even tho it has a very narrow band of choice for the round.

The real stinkers are the ones I pointed out.. The "judge" and the "ranch hand" these guns were made for no other reason than to get the mouth breathers to cut loose with some cash based on nothing but looks.

The tracker series is tied with the revolving carbine version of the judge in my post but I if the .357 versions are added it would fall off the list.

Hey.. this stuff is not new.. we all bought Lugers and broomhandle mausers back when they were pretty cheap.

The coolest looking gun in the world, the Colt P1873 and all it's modern brothers, can be one of the most reliable, tough, and accurate guns. I agree that I will never own a Judge, but I probably won't buy an AK anytime soon either. That doesn't mean all Kalashnikov owners should eat a d*** and die slow. Variety is the spice of life, amigo. If a Judge (or any gun for that matter) makes someone happy and affords them some more trigger time, awesome.

I think my Dan Wesson CBOB is pretty neat looking as is my Colt New Swervice. Robinson M96 looks neat, have had zero problems with it. Smith 52 looks different, works fine as does Smith 745. Anyone NOT think the Python looks good?

I own only one Taurus (41 mag titanium) and am no big defender, but if they produce crap how do they stay in business?

You probably would say that my Pheonix Arms HP22 sucks too. I think it's awesome. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think Glocks look cool at all, and practically NO ONE thinks the Hi Points look cool either. But (to me) both are great guns. The D.E. .44mag may not be your cup of tea, but there are plenty of people who are completely happy with it. Sure, the Judge may not be the most accurate .45lc revolver, but the ability to shoot different .410 rounds is nice. Taurus doesn't advertise it as anything but a close range, "spray and pray" type handgun. Something that anyone can pick up and use (revolver) and can be loaded with .410 buckshot so you have a better chance of hitting the bad guy and ending the attack. I think it does what it's supposed to do just fine. Every gun has drawbacks. If you don't like certain guns, dont buy them!!! But don't paint them with such a broad brush and claim that only newbies would buy them. I'll pick up a Judge when it's PRK friendly, and a 4" .357 tracker when i get the $$$.......if that makes me a newbie, fine, i could care less what others think about me .

You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

Not that this is convincing evidence one way or the other, but I have to say that I have seen two groups at the range in the last month carrying a Desert Eagle, and both had major problems.

The first group set up right next to me with a brand new .44 caliber Desert Eagle. It was jamming every few rounds shooting factory ammunition to such an extent that knowledgeable shooters from other benches and even a range officer or two stopped by to examine the problem. One bystander said advised that he owns a Desert Eagle and had similar problems while "breaking his in" though not the same extent. It was the consensus of the group that the gun should be sent back to the manufacturer.

The second group (three young guys in baggy everything) showed up at the range when I did, though they appeared unarmed. They went through the brief safety instruction for all new shooters (to the range at least) while I was setting up, and only when they proceeded to a bench down the way from me did they lift their shirts and pull their weapons from their waistbands! A couple of nondescript revolvers and a Desert Eagle. Needless to say, this drew the attention of the range officers right away. They appeared to be having all kinds of problems with their Desert Eagle as well, and the range officer had to intervene to clear a jam that they (apparently) could not. It was a short day at the range for them.

To be fair, I have only handled (not fired) a Desert Eagle, but neither they nor their owners have made a favorable impression on me.
