✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟ -

Gun locks around $8 or so.Gun locks. For all we know he charged him for a couple decent ones and didn't notice the ones that were included, or maybe didn't think the included locks were adequate. Though that scenario may be unlikely and not the best business practice, might as well wait until he picks up the guns tomorrow to see what the deal is."The police cannot protect the citizen at this stage of our development, and they cannot even protect themselves in many cases. WHOA WHOA WHOA. Kenjimatic, you need to clarify the Broadway Bait deal. Are they the ones that screwed you or just that Chris gave you the info? I can't see Chris overcharging and your other info about being closed for weeks at a time doesn't sound like them either. Please clarify before bad info gets spread about a good store.
ETA:OK, this is NOT Broadway Bait and Tackle. Broadway Bait is downtown Sac on Broadway Blvd. Lets make sure thats clear.Nope. The seller provided california legal locks. According to Chris from Broadway Bait and Gun as long as the seller provides the legal locks its fine. There wasn't anylock charges on the recipt and I didn't get any locks on the guns from the FFL. It also came out to and even $90.
I don't know if it'll be appropriate to name the store but its in North Highlands, right off of Watt Ave. A little bait and tackle shop.Last edited by RobG; 07-09-2010, 11:42 PM.Comment

I think the store in question is Guns N Stuff. Pretty small shop. I haven't been there in years. The only other shop near it is Just Guns on the corner of Auburn and Watt. Too bad you didn't head over there. A couple of friends of mine did a PPT there and it went smoothly.Comment

Just guns would be the place to be. If OP can prove he was overcharged on the transfer I would be willing to print out the PC regarding transfer fees and take it to the shop.I think the store in question is Guns N Stuff. Anyone care to chime in on the edit here?
It IS the law that you have to A. Buy a lock at the time of the transfer. B. Show a reciept less then 30 days old for a lock and provide that lock during the transfer. C. The gun has the ORIGINAL lock provided by the manufacturer. There are no other options. The safe affidavid only applies to long guns.
The most logical explanation of this transfer described by the OP is he unknowingly bought 2 locks for $10 ea. which he should be able to return after he takes ownership of the guns.
EDITED POST: Ok so I was told by a local FFL that the Safe affidavid only applies to long guns and that for handguns the lock options that I listed above apply. According to this http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/Cfl2007.pdf page 54-55 It seems to me that the affidavid would also apply to handguns. There is another one off Watt. It's in Rio Linda and They don't sell guns any more just fishing stuff. Does the place look like it's attached to somebody's house and is there a propane tank that's painted like a bobber?Nope. The seller provided california legal locks. According to Chris from Broadway Bait and Gun as long as the seller provides the legal locks its fine. There wasn't anylock charges on the recipt and I didn't get any locks on the guns from the FFL. To me it doesn't sound that bad...yeah, $35 is the price you are supposed to get but until the DOJ enforces this with an iron fist you really cannot do much.
If the place was friendly and the transaction was smooth you lucked out...I've been to places that charged $35 and it didn't go smooth and the people weren't friendly.
The way I look at it..support a local business as long as it's reasonable and they are friendly. $20 is nothing but a couple drinks at a bar..NRA Lifetime member
