Owned 1911's, HK full and compacts, and shot Sig's and XD's. While I would transport any of those to the range I only carry a Glock.

Hammer Fired: HK > Sig > 1911

The trigger on the 1911 is superior, but I have to go with higher magazine capacity of a double stacked magazine and I prefer DA/SA over the SAO 1911, just my preference. HK over the Sig just because its an HK.


Striker Fired: HK > XD > Glock

HK: Safer to carry, ensures a deliberate and concious decision to fire, faster to reload/fire, fixed barrel, lowest bore axis, can eject spent casings without extractor, no racking to re-cock in case of a light strike, can be disabled by removing the firing pin in less than 3 seconds, etc...

It's good to try them all to see which platform above you shoot best, so far it has been a Glock 34 for me but my customized M&P (Which is being worked on this very minute) may take that title eventually

i've owned w german sigs since 1985 or 1986; i fell in to a deal on a P226 way back then and i've been a Sig man since; i might add that i am loyal to the older w german sigs....
