Well, I have owned an HK full-size USP in 9mm since Feb. 1994---this gun has never failed to feed, fire or eject---NEVER. Thats 16+ years of all kinds and types of ammo. Decent trigger (version V1, DA/SA), shoots to point of aim, 1911/P35 grip angle, tough finish, accurate and RELIABLE! My other HKs are showing the same sort of reliability. I can recommend them.

Hi point C9. The heft in the slide makes it the most efficient throwing weapon and at a disposable price.

        because:
glocks are ugly, uncomfortable, crack in cold weather, have bad sights, and dangerously discharge on their own.
sigs are heavy, expensive, have high bore axis, are prone to breaking (based on supreme military testing), are wide gripped, no thumb safety, have long trigger reset, have low round capacity, and horrible DA trigger pull
1911s are unreliable, expensive, have varying quality, only holds 8 rds, outdated, and a pain to breakdown.
HKs are overpriced hype, bad triggers, high bore axis, zero customer service, and the improved models are unobtainable in CA.

now that that's been made clear, let the games continue

H&K is known for being overengineered so you never get to practice malfunction drills, hiring marketers that photograph magazines with bullets inserted the wrong direction, and having horrible customer service.

Sig is good at hiring Kimber execs to make everyone stop buying Sigs because of the drop in perceived quality (all those threads where people are talking about only buying Sigs if they were made in Germany? Yea I'm talking about those).

Glock likes to believe themselves as perfectionists, insisting on never updating their gun design for two decades until their market share began to erode due to the rising popularity of the M&P and it's "interchangable backstraps". They also enjoy implanting tiny charges of semtex in selected .40cal pistols, and giggling as they push the buttons and watch them explode.

1911's are great guns. THE BEST GUNS EVER. The hundred year old design trumps ALL modern designs. It's so good that the cost of a custom exceeds 2 AR's. It's THAT epic. Almost as epic as the ACR. Because in California, AR's can only have 10 rounds. AND .45 ACP was specifically designed to take down horses. I need say no more. 7 rounds of utter absolute destruction.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 1911, but are you being serious or just trying stir things up a little?

What shoe is better in a size 10? A Nike or a Reebok? The answer: which ever fits best.

Wanted a Sig - until I held it and it didn't fit my hand. Don't like the Glock fit either. HK fits like it was custom made. Also like the 1911, but I had to buy something first.

You're forgetting about the Glock 20

this is a very vague question...
Type of use?.. home defense, duty, concealed carry, target/range, etc?
Caliber of choice?.. you all know what they are.
                        Ideal price range?
And do you want it to have some style/soul?

                          I love 1911's. But I'm being a little sarcastic.

My vote is the M&P which the OP should have included. This gun surpasses Glock, on par with H&K but more comfortable and ergonomic and for half the price. So the winner is M&P! Although I love my P226 and P220ST.
