Lots of great suggestions here but I'm suprized noone has pointed out Star pistols. Yes they are no longer in production but they are solid, well made guns and can be found at great prices.

They are not bad pistols, but you have to make sure that you can find spare parts.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Good choice on the K9. The trigger is great and the weight of the pistol helps out with +p ammo. I haven't met anyone that hasn't liked shooting it.

If you do like the Sig P239, also a great choice. DAK trigger is also an option.

S&W 3913 are wonderful This is a LS not NL (it was for my wife) The slide release and safety has been filed to give a lower profile.

Sig P239 are pretty high on my " to buy" list also

So I picked up my Kahr K9 today. I feild stripped it right away and got it ready for the range which took me about 25 min. I fired 200 rnds of winchester white box through her and she performed flawlessly. The more rounds that would go down range the smoother it got. 200 rnds with no ftf or fte. Great shooter very accurate I just need to get used to the trigger pull I shoot mostly Glocks. I look foward to putting more rnds through her and letting my highly experienced freind shoot it to see its full potential. Over all I am very pleased with my purchase. American made quality is what I was looking for and American quallity is what I got. Here is a pick of my new K9 after the range trip.http://

I TOOK THE PIC WITH AN i PHONE AND DIDNT CLEAN IT THIS DOES NOT DO IT JUSTICE BUT ITS LIKE LOOKING AT YOUR OLD LADY AFTER YOU LEAVE HER NICE AND SATISFIED!

Sig P225. some folks confuse the P225 and P6 as being one and the same, and complain about the trigger pull on P225 when it was a P6 they shot; pull on the P225 has always been good for me on various examples.
