What are your pet loads for the 10mm? It's one chambering that I have never owned until now. I loaded some 180 plated with Universal clays and it felt like a standard .40 round. Also loaded some Berry's 200 grain plated using Universal at about 200 power factor and it was a bit snappier, which felt more like I thought it should, but very manageable.

I see a lot of talk about Blue dot, which I have never loaded with. I seen some Power Pistol load in the book that looked promising, and I do have some of it as I have used it in the 40. I also have a bunch of 165 grain jacketed HP's from Montana Gold that I would like to load up. Send me some load data that will make this cartridge shine!
big Frank, blue dot works for heaver bullets. If you got some 200gr. starting load is 9grains max is 10. I am loading 9.3, with both cast, and XTP's.

Thanks for the info. I don't have any Blue Dot right now, but if it's the bomb in the 10mm, then I will get some.

The problem with Blue Dot is that it is very inconsistent when you go over the published load by Alliant. There are other powders that are better for pushing the limit and the 10mm has a lot to give over published loads.

I have a bunch of 165 grain HP bullets that I would like to use and get some speed out of. I think I will work on a load for them right now.

            Iconic 10mm?

I've got three 10mm pistols, two revolvers, a T/C barrel, and a T/C barrel in 10mm magnum. One of the S&W 610s is punched out to 10mm magnum. Only the magnum firearms are in the realm of the .41Magnum. Comparing factory ammo, it might be fairly close.

Handloading, I've got loads that are far and away more powerful than anything the 10mm could do. Just a matter of case capacity. In my Ruger Redhaw 5.5 inch, I've got a load using 250gr.WFNGCs going across the chrono at 1450fps. My 7.5 inch betters that by a little. I run 210gr.JHC bullets out of the 7.5 inch Redhawk at 1600fps+.

I like my 10mm autos because I can come CLOSE to the .41Magnum in a reasonably sized pistol for carry when out of this furlingin' state. HOWEVER, it is no .41Magnum as J.D. Jones and others would agree.

The 10MM is a great semi-auto round. I too like Blue Dot because it is hard to make a mistake handloading as the maximum charges usually require compressing the powder. This is not the situation in lighter loadings like 135 or 155 grain bullets. That Blue Dot flame is terrific. I don't load over published data because I want to keep my guns for a while. My DW PM7-10mm is one I don't want to abuse. If I need more power than the 10MM max loadings, I'll just handload and shoot my 44 MAG.
