Notice how I didn't say they ARE the same, but in my lineup, they would be pretty similar. I have a G17, it's fine. Not my favorite pistol but a good one to have and it's on my CCW so I occasionally carry it. A VP9 would be nice to have but in the grand scheme, I have already filled that role.

I prefer to not have too much redundancy in my safe. Instead of a VP9, I'd rather have a Ruger PC Carbine Backpacker because I don't have a PCC and I like the idea of a takedown, fun to shoot carbine in 9mm that takes Glock mags. Or a new long range precision rifle. I'm not wealthy and only have a limited amount of gun funds and time to devote to shooting so having variety in a lot of different categories of guns is more fun because they are each their own thing.

I've never understood the thought process of those who have ten of conceptually what are the same or very similar guns. Like, "I have ten 1911s, a Kimber, 3 Springfields, a Nighthawk, 3 Colts and 2 Dan Wessons." That would get extremely boring for me, but to each their own. I don't judge, if they're guns, it's all good.

I kinda get what you?re saying

I already have a Springfield 1911 9mm and I see Kimber has 9mm on the roster as well. Turners has it in stock.

Every time I think about getting it I say to myself ?is it really going to be a huge difference compared to my Springfield??

    I have a 5? pro series M&P, shield 9? and I had compact 3.5? 9mm

    I didn?t see a need for 3 M&Ps so I sold the compact.

      VP9 Question

My ONLY guess is the magazine release. (?)[/QUOTE]

The mag release is the best thing about HK guns, I wish to have it on all my guns.
In comparison if I shoot Glock with my left hand I drop the mag every round. The location in the 1911 is different than most polymer guns and works for me just as good. I had a VP9 and it?s by far one of the best shooting guns in the polymer sea, but I couldn?t trust it for CCW, as the trigger is too good for a gun without a safety, and I don?t have a desire to collect plastic guns, unless I use them daily. Why they?re are not as popular as some other polymer guns? They?re just a lot more expensive, and for many people price matters. I do have the P2000sk and it?s awesome for what it is, but it takes time to love shooting it. 90% of the time I prefer to carry my 1911 45 4.25? and it?s my favorite in the range as well.

I didn't read every single post in this thread, so I may have missed the answer to this question: Is the HK VP9 on Roster in Taxifornia?

The one firearm I sold and now regret having sold was my HK USP 9 compact. Otherwise, I'm a 9mm SIG fan, but the VP9 has me interested.

          VP9 is not on roster.

Need to pick one up at inflated CA prices through PPT or if fortunate through interfamilial transfer.

Not in the roster. I bought mine in the last week SSE was still an option here in CA. I?m glad I picked it up

            I think I paid $680

              Question about the match version

How does it compare to the VP9L ?

Same barrel? What makes it a ?match? version? I don?t care about the mag release

I would like to upgrade mine to the 5? version

Match has a .51" longer ported barrel than the VP9L. Here is good review of the Match:

The VP9 Match is like a VP9 that's taken advantage of performance enhancing drugs. It's a magnificent shooter, but it's not perfect out of the box and could use better market support.

I have never had the opportunity to hold or shoot a Match. I did purchase a VP9L slide to go with my standard VP9 - It is like having two different pistols for half the price. I like the optics cut, longer sight radius, accuracy and suppressor height sights.

I added a Holosun ACSS red dot and like it even more.

I want to get a long slide as well. Is $400 a fair deal?

$400 sounds like a decent deal. I paid about $500 a couple of years ago. I think this is what the H&K website had them selling for when last in stock:
