If this is your first pistol red dot and you plan to concealed carry, I would suggest the Holosun HS507C-X2 with the ACSS Vulcan Reticle. You can get it with a red dot or green dot. Choose which color dot your eyes can acquire better.

It will help keep you from losing your dot on the draw or in awkward shooting positions.

I just bought a 507C X2 for my Beretta 1301 shotgun, but now I'm also considering getting the same optic and having the slide cut on my Glock 17. It's a fantastic RDS, also comes in green and there's really nothing bad to say about it.

I have two identical Glock 17's and only use them as a primary and backup for classes and as my bedside firearm. I don't conceal them, but think it would be nice to have one with a red dot.

My 507C has the 3-reticle option, not the ACSS reticle.

I'd say the 509T for it's durability and closed emitter. That said I run mostly RMRs. I know they're not popular but I've never had a problem with them Botach has 509T for 299.00

Have both, you are kinda splitting hairs. Both are good, I personally have a slight preference to the 507 but that is likely from a 5 year experience running RMRs. Don't let the "close emitter is mo reliable" talk talk you into the 509T, RMRs have a long and strong rep in holsters and overseas and closed emitters can absolutely be effected by outside conditions too.

Finally deciding to pull the trigger and purchase a red dot for my Glock 19. Which would you all prefer a 507c or 509T? Both are within my budget but can’t decided which one to purchase.

509T uses a "special" mount due to the close design.

507C seems a little flimsy due to the design of the hood. But so far, mine have been reliable.

I go for in between - 508T.

Then again - the question that will get asked - what is your use case? Indoor just stand-and-deliver fun? Why not get the cheaper Swampfox? Same RMR footprint for only $200...

I just got a new 508T with green. Its been solid and no complaints. The green is a nice change up. I also have an RMR and SRO that are in heavy rotation.

I will say this however, after using all three, I have a new found appreciation for the SRO. Its just easy to use, and the extra height in the viewing area is handy I do admit.

Competition is good. Anyone who makes a flaky dot optic sight immediately gets tossed aside by the market.

I'm interested to hear why you think the 507 is "flimsy". First time I've ever hear anyone describe the 507 this way, as it is a pretty darn robust little optic and has endured quite a few torture tests online and passed.

I don't have either of those, but I do have a RMR, and a 508T. I really really like the 508T. See if you can find someone and shoot both of the ones you mention.

Agreed. I have the HS507C-X2 Green dot. 2MOA/32MOA circle. I like it a lot, but it took much more training to get that down, compared to the ACSS. And in a disorientating situation, the ACSS might be beneficial. The reticle itself is a chevron, but there is a giant ring that encircles it, guiding your focus to correct positioning.

I don't understand what the advantage is of the ACSS reticle over the standard dot inside the circle reticle? If the chevron inside a circle is preferred, why is that so much different than a dot inside a circle?
