This here is the first pistol I shot... circa 1964, I was about age 8.

This here Walther P-38 BYF43; Dad brought it back from Germany WWII after serving for the U.S. Army... story goes my dad traded this here Muaser-build... traded it from a Sailor on the Queen Mary II coming back from Germany for two packs of smokes! "Atta-boy POP!"

Mauser code, police Eagle/N commercial test proof and serial number. Right side of slide is marked Mauser Eagle/135; Army acceptance stamp followed by the Eagle/Swastika L; police acceptance stamp. Army E/135 on side of frame, right side of the locking block and left side of barrel. Left side of barrel and locking block are stamped with Eagle/N commercial test proof marks.

Note: this P38 has a four (4) digit serial number with NO (none) letter block.

The unique difference in firing this gun is the feel and sound of all the 'real steel' cycling 'ka-chink!' every shot! Very different from the alloy type metals of today... gotta LOVE them old guns! Makes my heart pound a little louder just thinking about it.

I swear to Gawd; I can vividly remember that day dad stood behind me as I fired this here Walther on that hot summer day..., I can see the trees in the back-drop, the old red Chevy Pick-up and can even remember the dusty dirt road where dad parked that truck right next to that ugly old pine tree... back in circa 1964.

Ohaawww-geeze dang-it; I just welled up a couple salty rollers... 'Shoot!!!'

I have not fired this gun since 1986... dear ol' dad left us in 1989, I sure miss my dad... that ol' summa-ma-gun!

The first hangun I ever fired was my Springfiled Armory 1911 .45ACP I purchased about 7 years ago.

The cooloest handgun I ever fired, however; was a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull. That was a friggin' blast, both literally and figuratively.

A crappy .22 revolver... don't remember the brand. I was 10 or 11 and this was my dad's gun. I shot it on a camping trip along the Owens River outside of Bishop, CA.

My dad bought the gun back in 1965. He worked the graveyard shift near Watts at a printing facility when the riots occurred. He bought the gun and carried it to and from work for a while.

It was a POS... I remember him always saying that he'd be better off throwing the gun at somebody rather than trying to shoot them with it. lol.

It was a SW 357 ( I forgot the model) from my uncle in 1993.

A 1911 from Norway... Dad still has it...
I was 7 years old (43 years ago) and Dad took me out to shoot it... must of fired a magazine or two... LOVED it... could field strip it by the time I was 10....Told dad of all of the guns he has ... that's the one I really want when he gets rid of it... the others can go to my brothers (who won't want them anyway.... I'll just have to give up my share of the antique furniture and silver for them... dang what a loss........)

anyway... I go to his house periodically and clean it and the 38 super with the 3 digit serial number... just to remind him that I'm his favorite son...

My dad and I were at Bullseye in San Rafael and I was probably about 12. I still have the Python and have only put a few rounds through it since. She's a beauty!

I do not remember what it was, but I shot a semi-auto pistol way back with my dad and friends. It was not a 22, it had some kick to it. I was really young and barely remember......

1st gun

High Standard Military .22. I was probably 6, that would make it 1957. We stopped on the road from my uncles farm in Oklahoma when my father spotted a rabbit. He handed me the High Standard and I nailed the rabbit, but didn't kill it on the first shot, it was about 30 yards. My dad was somewhat surprised and climbed over the fence to approach the rabbit and finish it off. He stopped about 25 feet from the rabbit and fired several shots at it and all went high. Of course, I was right behind him and begged for a shot. He relented and let me have a shot thinking I had been lucky. I fired one shot and hit the rabbit in the head resulting in a pretty spectacular leap from the jack rabbit. I was deadeye after that. Loved guns and shooting ever after.
