    First Handgun you ever fired?

Well, what was it? What were the circumstances? How old were you?

Me, I was about 8 or 9 years old. It was my Dad's S&W K22. We were on our way up to the mountains for a camping trip (first trip without Mom and sister). We pulled off the road in the middle of no where and walked a bit until we got into a small ravine. Dad found an old can laying on the ground and he stood it up. He emptied the cylinder into that can hitting it each time from about 10 yards. After some coaching it was my turn. I missed the first shot but ended up hitting that little soup can with 3 out of 6 shots. Damn that was fun, neat memory.

.38sp police turn in. Took a firearms class at Mesa/Miramar while getting the credits I needed to transfer. Lot of fun though the tactical scenarios we practiced were a stretch for the majority of the class.

I was 10 or 11, the gun was a 9mm luger that had been floating around our little town since WWII. At the time it belonged to my dad's friend. It was at the small rifle range that closed down a few years later. It was a real neat gun! Being 10 a luger felt more powerful than any other gun I had ever fired. I don't think I hit the target once but was a real fun time with Family and friends that have long since passed.

              Harrington & Richardson 922 with 6" barrel - .22 revolver

              out on Grandpa's farm

Had shot the .22 rifle quite a bit before that. Nobody ever used hearing protection, but the .22 rifles weren't too bad. My ears were ringing after the first shot with the .22 revolver.

All their cans and bottles went into the ditch, so I never had a shortage of targets.

Ruger single six. I think I was about 6 or 8...

Backyard shooting at tree stumps learning the basics. I grew up in the sticks though and everyone over the age of about 10 had at least a 22lr for snakes and such. Packing a single action revolver was part of my upbrining until I turned it in for a duty gun

I was out in the desert of Anza Borrego on a shooting trip. Shot a Ruger Mark I .22 was the first gun I fired and the 2nd was a Glock 26 9mm.

Colt Python, .357, owned by a college friend. We would drive out to near Joshua Tree (off Dillon Road) and let loose with that and a couple other guns of his.

I feel like this is something I should remember but to be honest, I have no clue.

I was 5 years old and fired my dad's no-name .22 bolt action rifle at my grandparent's ranch in the Santa Ana Canyon. Must have been 1956 or so.
