Yeah if Biden wins, all bets are off on prices - it will make today's prices look like a fire sale.

I just did an average value on my second ammo safe, and if I sold everything in there at 80% of current market I could have a 4x return on my money. Crazy.

If Biden wins, the market will go even more nuts.

My advise, make a list of everything you wish you could buy now. When things settle down bite the bullet, spend some cash and buy them all. That's what I did last time around.

People are still out wanting to buy "anything", but many don't have that second stimulus check asking price handy (yet)! They know the gun they can get is better than the one they don't have. Who knows how long it will take for manufacturers to "catch up" to even "normal" stocking levels, both of firearms and ammo? It's not likely to be THIS year, that much is a safe bet!

My take is totally different- I dont mind the high prices and if I dropped 1k on a Glock 17, no biggie. Why, I see it as a long term investment panned out over the next 10 years, atleast. So, thats $100 a year for vital life safety equipment, no biggie. I dont mind spending good money on good equipment if I have to.

In 1997, I dropped $100 on a Streamlight flashlight and my roommate in 1999 thought I was crazy, serious. I told him I will keep this light for the next 20 years and that $5 a year isnt going to kill me. I sold it 22 years later for like $15, so I got my money's worth. Same with a Honda car, spent top dollar, take care of it long term and it will still run well into 10+ years of ownership.

Now ammo is a different animal and all us us should have been slwoly stocking up over time, I did. No need to panic buy or mass order, just slowly buy 1-2 boxes over time. I have been doing this for the last 10+ years and nicely stocked up and actually selling ammo now and its not making a dent in the stockpile.

Well if one is worried about the current cost of ammo you could always use the old investing strategy of “dollar cost averaging” which an example of would be to buy let’s say exactly $100 a month of ammo every month, regardless of price, for the next ten (or 20?) years. When prices are high you will buy less rounds and when prices are low you will get more rounds per month. Your average cost per round over an extended period will only be slightly over those short periods of hyper pricing. Works the same if you just buy one or two boxes of ammo every month, over a long time frame, regardless of price. Of course if you have the funds and prices and availability ever gets back to normal it would probably be better to do a massive stock up. Even then dollar cost averaging can be used when investing a large lump sum, over an extedend time to reduce the chance of investing (buying) all at once during what may be a peak price. Just a thought.

Ive had numerous members, mostly newer with low itrader scores offer me $1200 - $1500 for my Gen 5 G19 I have up for trade. It isn't worth it to sell it off because it was hard enough acquiring the Gen 5 in the first place since im no LEO.

I have had numerous friends offer me crazy prices for my ammo stash. Last week one offered me $1 a round for 5.56. I may have to take him up on that offer...

+/- $1000 is nothing to those "gucci liberals". They will just keep the guns and ammo in a shoebox on a shelf in the bedroom closet unless a wife/GF requires that they get rid of it. Most have secretly wanted to own a Glock / handgun since they got hair between their legs.

I know enough liberals to know what I highlighted in bold will happen. And I saw a couple of the gucci guns bought. We are talking guccified factory rifles and shotguns. Taran Tactical made a killing in LA /Hollywood under COVID. I am pretty sure of it.

Threads like these creates a vicious circle for me.
Everyone says "Ammo shortage and expensive" -> Creates anxiety -> Causes ammo purchase to deal with anxiety -> Increases ammo shortage/inflates prices -> Creates more anxiety -> Causes increased ammo purchases for higher levels of anxiety -> ..............

If enough people think like this, the ensuing hoarding will make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. In all honesty, what is coming out of Sacramento is a much more realistic threat.
