I still believe that in the long run three for one is not a good choice. Do you think any of those pistols you mentioned will ever produce a microstamped version?

If nobody produces a microstamped handgun, then no guns come off the roster.
I am not sure if in the near future anybody will do that, but if and when one does and it proves successful, the floodgates will open.In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.Comment

Only if the manufacturers fail to renew.
With current (2020) law, legal to renew 'as added to the Roster' - magazine lock, chamber loaded indicator, microstamping do not apply.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

It still does not exist. It will not happen. And mag lock is not the only requirement, you also need CA CLI.
Therefore ZERO guns are coming off the roster for AB2847.
And it is not great form to join a gun forum and start in talking like every anti gun bill ever written has already been passed. Before it has been passed.
But welcome anyhow, I guess

I would rather have old free state USPs than a bastardized, Pelozified 'VP9'.
No, just no. I would never spend a dime on a CA nanny state gun.Last edited by SkyHawk; 09-01-2020, 7:00 PM.Comment

Yes, I mentioned that in an earlier post. I believe there's another thread going on about this topic.
I said that as long as no one submits a microstamped gun then the roster will stay the same as long as the manufacturers continue to pay the fees.

While I doubt a gun manufacturer is ready to implement microstamping into their designs -
I do worry about handguns added to the roster under the premise that they are functionally similar and manufactured in the same plant as one currently on-roster (cosmetic differences basically). [PC 32030]
This was mentioned in a recent thread on the P80 - Glock's limited new production G17 Gen.1 release, Quiet commented that:

....Glock can attempt to try to get it listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale via exemption. [PC 32030]
Glock can argue that it qualifies for the exemption since the only things different from the on-Roster Glock 17 are cosmetic changes that does not alter the pistol's "dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm".
^The magazine well, magazine release, barrel, chamber, and firing mechansim for the Glock P80 is the same as the on-Roster Glock 17.
CA DOJ BOF rebuttal would be since it's marked P80 and not 17, it's a different pistol and it does not qualify for the exemption.
Which means it will need the required safety features (chamber load indicator, magazine disconnect mechanism, microstamping array) to be eligible for listing.

In the past, I believe Armscor added some 1911 models, while S&W added some Sheild variants post 2013 using this exception.
For example, I believe Glock could use this exemption to add an Austrian made Glock 17 Gen.3 with a different frame color and/or grip texture.
Does this mean that an approval of this variant mean that the 3 oldest handgun on-roster falls off the list.
(Using the Glock example) Does an approval mean that the 3 oldest Glocks fall off the roster or the 3 oldest guns from any manufacturer?
For clarification - assume that the 3 oldest guns are from FN.
If Glock adds a handgun, those 3 FNs fall off the roster?
Thanks in advance for your help!Comment

It is agnostic as to the manufacturer. Somebody could try to bump competitors' guns off the roster theoretically. While I doubt a gun manufacturer is ready to implement microstamping into their designs -

. No other company will make that probably except for Sig and S&W. You should read the arguments in support of AB 2847 that they want ALL handguns to have microstamping, magazine disconnect and CA CLI
