And to the OP, nothing wrong with taking care of your tools. There are many mechanics and craftsman that take care to clean their tools and not abuse them.
yellow Jackets (yes I know, not technically a "bee" but a flying-stingy bug, so for the purposes of this discussion, the same(ish) thing) are carnivores. That's why they come out at every barbecue.

I also don't judge military issue 1911's harshly for idiot scratches. Oddly enough, neither my '17 or '18 vintage 1911 have them very bad, unlike so many of the civilian issue guns I see.

Whereas all my 1911A1's from WWII have much more defined scratches.

I more kill the tips of fishing rods with it, but I slaughter butcher skin and gut an awful lot of critters on it.

Most places, especially here during A zone, they show up within seconds of making the first cut on a deer to get the guts out. They even showed up in under a minute in Hawaii, which surprised the heck out of me.
They are fun to watch work. Set out a piece of thin sliced lunch meat and they'll carve off a hunk of it and fly away like a torpedo bomber.

Yea, same thing. Common verbiage. I hear meat bee used WAY more than yellowjacket. Like calling soda of all kinds "coke" or "pop".

I like "meat bees" better, it's now my new name for them.

Hahaha, excellent. My contribution to this thread was to go ahead and use steel wool to scrub dried and congealed blood off your tailgate, and a new better arguably more descriptive name for a fun little flying critter.

This thread reads like a 12 step program of 1911 frame scratchers.

"hello, my name is X and I am a 1911 frame scratcher".

Learn the right way and scratch no more. Pass on what you learn to others and avoid creating generational 1911 frame scratchers in future.

Brother Maynard will now consult the book of armaments...
