I was thinking of using orange or green nail polish on the front sight for better visibility. Wilson Combat will drill out the front dot and replace it with a fiber optic tube, but I'm not so sure I want to do this to my gun.

I would say M9A1 for the same reasons others have said. Main reason being that it can serve as a nightstand gun since it has a light rail. Not that a pistol without a rail can’t but options, you know?

You can also get a Brigadier, or Vertec if you want to have a replaceable front sight. Beretta also sells Vertec Slides on their website.

I wouldn’t buy an A3 for off roster prices. A3 is just a Vertec with a threaded barrel (illegal for CA, so you’d have to replace) and decock only feature, which you can retrofit to any 92 series yourself for a fraction of what it would cost you to buy an A3.

I voted for the M9A1 but I'm biased...

The one without all that writing all over it - is that the M9? Just looks so iconic, without actually being a desirable gun to me.

Typical of LE guns...pieces of donuts and french fry in them, holster wear but no rounds down the pipe. ALWAYS a good buy!

                  I voted for the 92FS.

All the choices are great guns but I picked the 92FS because of $$$. Plus you usually find more holster options with a non rail gun.

Finally all of the choices will deliver legendarily reliability the 92 platform is famous for.

Can't go wrong with any of them.

For a range gun, M9. Although I've also owned an M9A3 that I really like.
But they are all good choices.

The Police Special has "PS" on a shield on the slide. I had one that I let good many years ago. Now the safe is not complete without a 9mm Beretta in it.

everyone mentions the rail on the m9a1, but not the difference in backtrap and frontstrap checking, which i think is the most value add over the 92fs/m9. the checkering greatly improves the grip, and is not something you could cheaply get done on an m9

M9A1 gets my vote (yes, I have one).

I was able to score a vertec slide (has removable front site) and put the G mod on it.

This is true. The M9A1 and FS variants (but not the M9) also have a scallop/relief cut on the upper portion of the backstrap, just under the grip tang. This allows for a slightly higher hold, and allows slightly less reach for the trigger finger, which helps for people with smaller hands.

I did not see 92x on the list...which would be my choice right now.

With that said, I'm a fan of the heavier Brigadier slide. And all the cool kids shoot a "G" configuration...which is decocker only, no safety. These would be my priorities when choosing a model.

And with THAT said, I'd also look really hard at the Langdon 92 Elite LTT version and the Wilson Combat 92's. An LTT with a Langdon trigger job in it is a sweet shooter for sure. YMMV.

But, of your stated option OP, hell yes, M9A1 all day if you're patient, willing to wait to get one as opposed to a panic buyer.
A panic buyer? You mean all the liberal democrats waiting in lines now? I told the several liberal friends who called looking for guns they could take a test, get a FSC and then wait 10 days to get a gun and who knew if they would find ammo then and they could not buy ammo until purchasing the gun first. I went so far as to have told them that if if got that bad ( and I seriously doubt it will) and their liberal asses showed up at my house, I'd tie them to the front of my truck or to a road barricade.
