Glock 36

I got mine used from a LEO. it is a gen 3 G36 no rail. The reason I bought the gun is because it came with 3 mags that had Pearce Mag Extensions that supposedly increased the capacity to 7+1. They don't as the spring tension on the follower with 7 rounds in the mag is so tight the slide won't cycle.

The real benefit of the Mag Extensions is the fact that you can actually get a hold of the gun and shoot it accurately.

I immediately added an Extended Slide Release from an Outfit in Colorado, They are specific to the G36 as it is Single Stack, the offset in the part is different than all the other guns. The gun came with Glock Night Sights , 4 mags and a Blade-Tech paddle Holster, all for $450. I couldn't pass it up and found another Mag Extension the same day.

I also included an Extended Mag Release. My mags will drop free if you keep the release compressed, but usually I don't keep it depressed long enough to drop free and I have to pull them which is no big deal if you know about it, you can train around it. With a little work on the mag well they would drop easily

The gun is easy to shoot and you are pushing a 230 gr boolit out the hole so you aren't messing around. Mine runs exceptionally well with my Reloads with either Plated or Powder Coated Boolits. With the Mag Extensions and getting all four fingers on the grip the recoil is very manageable.

For CC I carry it in a Sticky Holster in the small of my back and it doesn't print at all.

I owned 2 of them at various times. I never had a fail to fire or feed. They’re great guns. But ultimately I settled on one caliber when I got my CCW, the 9mm So the Glock 26 became my compact. 10 rounds vs 6 was also a consideration. But that doesn’t take anything away from the Glock 36

Hello all, I'm new to the Forum this is my first post. I have a question pertaining to the Glock 36. I'm researching my next gun purchase, and when I started researching this glock 36 the first thing that jumped out at me is that I saw plenty of Internet feedback from forums about the Glock 36. They were mostly negative and they were also older posts from the early 2000s. The negative feedback all seem to stem from FTE and FTF. Knowing that this internet feedback is older, I was wondering if these problems that people reported and or perceived to be there still do exist with the Glock 36 or has Glock got this worked out?Thanks to all that have knowledge and experience with this firearm for your passing this on to me. The only problem with the G36 jamming was because of the older style magazines compared to newer style magazines. I have had a few G36's from different years and all of them jammed with the older magazines I used that I had with one model.

The older magazines did not have a notch cut out in the follower like the newer ones do for the slide stop tab. This caused the slide stop to have too much pressure on it and stop the slide before the mag was empty. Most people have never had the opportunity to test it out with multiple G36's, but I have.

My newer (previously flawless) G36's malfunctioned using the older style non-notched follower magazines. Unfortunately I sold/traded all the G36's I have had, now they are not on the roster anymore because of a plastic rail.

The only thing wrong with G36's now is that they are not on the roster anymore.

If you're considering a G36, I'd recommend a G30SF instead. Then buy a G36 complete upper on Grabagun and create a backdoor G30S.

Hell, I'd actually go with a G29SF and a G36 upper! Get the best of both worlds!

My G36 is my go-to pistol for .45 acp CCW. I added Pearce +0 mag extensions to have a solid pinky rest. Accurate, reliable and a great carry gun IMO. I've since put set of TruGlo sights on it (which are the bomb).

Glock 36 fan

I've had the Glock 36 below for about 10 years, buying it used for $300 from my local shooting range, where it was a range gun that didn't get used much. I have fired maybe 1000 rounds through it without any problems, so I trust it to work every time. It is one of my favorite carry guns, and I have carried it behind the hip and AIWB in various holsters.

The grip is thinner and shorter than other Glocks with double stack magazines, so it conceals very well. And it gives you 6+1 rounds of .45 ACP before reloading, which should take care of most problems a private citizen faces.

Pick up a glock 30sf like K1dude said, unless your looking for a single stack sub compact. I’ve got a glock 21sf and 30sf in .45 and the 10rd double stack mag is what sold me on the 30sf. It’s similar to the 36 so it could be a better option.

Why is it that I research if this firearm is on the roster here in California, I use the www.oag.ca.gov website and the G36 Gen 3 is on the roster until 01/01/2020. What am I missing. Glock 36 No Rail was replaced with the Glock 36 Rail in 2015ish. DOJ rejected the gun because it’s a new frame ( because of rail) and does not meet California safety BS aka micro stamping

Just so you know. This gun ( Glock 36 with rail ) was going to be used by gun grabbers against us. I sent Glock legal team the info about this n how Anti-gun groups were buying this particular gun from certain ffl, to show that they were selling illegal guns to people. ( there words ). I also sent the ffl’s the info on how they were being tricked into selling this gun and the GG were bragging n Trying to get them shut down

Again Glock 36 no rail is off roster. ( Glock even put out a Memo about it )

DOJ even wanted Glock to add a R to the end of the 36. But glock refused that request. I suggested they put a sticker on the box. like Springfield that states, not legal for sale in CA to help dealers. Was told Glock didn’t want to bend anymore to CA so it was also refused.

Glock leaves them on the roster because they know the 2th hand market is big. The same way they leave the Compensated models on the roster.


Some FFL are still risking it all for a couple of bucks. Like the ones selling S&W Performance Center Shields as normal Shields. They just swap the slides during the dros n on pick up day it’s has the PC slide. I can name a FFL who was doing this n that lead authorities into some of his other Shady things and his eventual arrest.

Just got off the phone with Glock legal team. Was told that Glock decided to add a sticker on the box not for sale California. don’t know how true this is because I’ve not seen one as of yet. The last one I looked at was 2 months ago. They will will be sending me that memo about the Glock 36 with a rail that is not California compliant.

Sounds like a screw-up to me. The new G36's are labeled with "FGR" on the box.

I used to see railed 36's being sold new as on-roster all the time IIRC.

All the old complaints I saw were people whining about the low capacity. If you can live with 6+1 or 7+1 (extended mag) then why not?

Another good thing about the 36 is that it can use 19 holsters.

30/30SF is nice, but it's the full size grip and is quite heavy. 30s, if you can find one is a good compromise.
