        Nope.
Stays in the cardboard boxes it ships in until I'm ready to take it out for a weekend on BLM, then it goes into ammo cans.
Handgun ammo just goes into the range bag.

My first thought as well. No WD-40 or Kroil anywhere near your ammo.

A year or three ago, someone ran a chemical analysis on Froglube.
It is nothing more than coconut oil with an aromatic oil added.

I store all my ammo in a Strong Hold lockable storage cabinet, Its 78'' high 48'' wide and 24'' deep with four 10 Gage shelf's, it holds all of my ammo along with reloading supplies, targets and personal shooting gear and room to spare, there not cheap but the shelf's are rated at I think 1400 pounds each. My old machinist tool cabinet was folding under the weight of only reloading stuff and personal shooting gear . New there around $1200-$1500 for my size cabinet and they come 36'', 48'' 60'' and 72'' wide and have an option to be made out of SS. I found mine on Craig's List for under $500.00 but had to pick it up myself.
Only way to store your ammo and keep it locked up to .

                    Am I storing ammo wrong?

I keep all my Ammo in cans with desiccant packs in a safe in my garage... So far they still go bang, a fair amount of it is over 12 years old.

Yep, put rounds in plastic bag, then put that in a metal ammo can.

Yeah, same. Often use WD40 as a solvent, then wipe dry and lube/oil.

Apparently, locking ammo in a ammo can will make it last for ever, shoot tighter groups, shoot cleaner, etc.
Reality check. The only advantage to a air tight ammo can would be if you also put in some desiccant. Other wise you are just locking in the same humidity as the air around you.
Even then, unless you live in a rain forest, humidity isn't generally a problem.

Unless my ammo comes shipped in an ammo can, or I just reloaded a bunch of loose rounds, I don't generally use ammo cans. The cardboard boxes work fine and are left in the garage.

I've never used frog lube but it appears I'm not missing out.

is the bolded part really true? seems to me that if you fill up an ammo can to the top with ammo and seal it, there is less space for air in that can. so as long as the can remains sealed there is a limited amount of humidity in that air (even in really humid air, maybe one drop of water's worth?) to be spread amongst 2,000 rounds of ammo. if you leave that same ammo out on a shelf, there is an unlimited amount of air and, over time, an unlimited amount of humidity in that air.

I'm really just asking this question out of curiosity. I store all my ammo in cans with desiccant and will continue to do so...

All my handgun/rifle ammo still in the shipping boxes they came in from SGAMMO. Will open up one at a time and take out packs of 20/50 to the range w me. But I don't seal them up or anything at home, just sit in cardboard boxes.

Also have a bunch of 1970's 7.62x51 Portugese and Lithuanian ammo that always shot fantastic out of my M1A. Very accurate for my purposes and no special storage for them either.
