The early on posts in this thread seem to point at the DOJ saying they will go after people doing that for manufacturing and also creating an unsafe handgun
They did not say that they were going after anyone. They said converting a SSE to semi-auto "may" be a violation of the law. Seems more oriented towards discouragement than any actual determination of law or regulation, much less one that they're setting out to enforce. And, in any case, it doesn't address on-roster pistols like the Franklin one aside from the fact that a conversion "may" violate the AWB; whether or not it would obviously depends upon configuration.

look, if you are that worried, just don't convert it to semi.

done deal. keep it stock, and it is 100% legal.

stop trying to come up with "what if's" and do the job of the CADOJ in getting more stupid regulations written up.

people like you that keep worrying about stuff like this is why the BATF kept getting letters on the SB Braces and asking if shouldering them was legal, and that got them to make it illegal to shoulder it, then thankfully the changed their opinion just earlier this year so if you sometimes shoulder a pistol brace it is ok.

Is there a pic of the markings? Does it say "Pistol" anywhere?

if your only reason in buying this CA7 is to convert to semi-auto, then just follow the laws as interpreted/given in this thread and in all the various AR pistol threads, and do it.

i'm just getting tired of all the "omg what if this" or "but they said that" worrying nancy pants on here that keep posting in this thread. then coming up with all their super restrictive versions of what the law means.

FUD. It's a non prohibiting misdemeanor that is unlikely to lead to jail time for a person with a clean record, even if the prosecutors were able to leap the factual and legal hurdles involved here, which I've outlined elsewhere and which are considerable.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

Please then why even buy a gun anymore? Might as well give up if youre living in fear or just move. These guys did the work on getting it on the roster and telling what you need to make it work. Just do it or don't. Stop giving the Ca DOJ ammo to hurt you all.

The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

The CA7 definitely puts DOJ and the Roster in a predicament. I like that aspect of it and love the ingenuity as well. On the other hand, it may force them, or the Dems to plug that hole and mandate all Rostered handguns must remain in their Roster approved configuration.

Then where are we going to be? No aftermarket parts sales in CA? They've already shutdown SSE. Their next move to block this work around may sting bit bit more.

That is a legitimate risk, but that is yet another step towards the "briar patch." The state knows that they will have a hard time foreclosing every avenue, but whence they do, does one really have a Second Amendment? Won't that just hasten the demise of the regulatory schemes under a Kavanaugh court? Each time the State reacts, they over react. Every time they do so, additional legal opportunities develop.

The status quo is firearm castration, and little will change until the regulations are bound against themselves so tightly that they suffocate and turn gangrene.

I can only tell you that we move forward after a lot of careful deliberation, consideration, and legal consultation. We are in the middle of a process that started several years ago, and will end several years from now.

Profound... Kind of casts a different light on this product .

The state is going to sheet itself if there are 10 of these on list a year from now.

TPM, you should have started your own thread on your product instead of coming in here and pushing your product in an another vendor's thread concerning their product.

this to me is a bit disrespectful. if you wanted to discuss the legal interpretations of modifying a bolt action or single shot pistol to semi-auto, that is fine, but jumping in and the first post is "hey we have a bolt action pistol too" is not cool.

so in an effort to change the energy and direction of the conversation on the thread - how are those lead times looking for orders that have taken place over the past weekend? sorry to be such a pain in the butt (as i'm sure you've been getting non-stop questions about that) - but the excitement is REAL & my b-day is coming up in a couple weeks - so i bought myself a little gift. I can't wait!!!

also - is there any word on whether or not it will it be okay to swap out for a sb tactical stabilizer brace or kak shockwave stabilizer?
