This is where you are incorrect, it's not a free market. The sale of off roster guns for over MSRP is only possible because the market is restricted. A Gen5 Glock is a $500 pistol, nothing makes it worth $800-$1000 aside from its unavailability to the general public via legislation.

Not exactly the same because free market restrictions are not imposed by the government. In addition, free market competition can exist between competing vendors within a stadium. In California, there is no competition because an average Joe can't purchase off roster. It is a slippery slope argument because anything limited can be used as a comparison.

My analogy is, what if the government restricted flu vaccinations to the general public and gave exemptions to certain individuals. If exempt individuals sold vaccines to the general public for two to three times the retail price, the price other ordinary citizens pay in other territories (retail), and you are restricted from purchasing outside of your territory, is that a free market?

Negotiate!! Most knowledgeable sellers start high so they can give you something OFF.. I spent a lifetime in Sales and learned "Ya Gotta Give Them Something"!

Other than if your a south paw, there is no added value to pay off roster premiums for a Gen 4 or 5. The one exception being the MOS versions as converting your Gen 3 to a MOS (especially a long barrel versions) will cost as much or more than just paying the off roster premium.

If you see a gun offered at a price you don't like, make an offer.

If you see a gun offered at a price you don't like, look at the extras. Often there are extras.

Folks often offer to sell Glocks that they have worked over and "upgraded" and that's why they are offered at $800. or more.

I sort of agree with meno377 on this one. Often a gun priced at the "same price as a new one" comes with extra mags, a holster, new sights, etc.

If a person offers a gun that is "too high" in my opinion I can ignore it or make an offer. I can also watch it and see if the price comes down...which happens.

Sometimes a seller doesn't know where to set the price at cuz they don't have the experience. Sometimes it's too high, sometimes too low.

It never annoys me or pisses me off if it is "too high". It's nothing personal to me. The seller has no obligation to make me happy...unless I buy the gun. Then it should be in working order and as described. Otherwise I'll be on 'em like Sam Spade on Wilmer.

I feel the only reason to buy a used Glock is to get a package deal. If it comes with sights you like and maybe a holster and if you can get a fair deal then I say go for it. You should be able to get a new Glock of $499 all day long. For me it not worth the hassle on try to save the tax by paying 500 for a used Glock. The DROS is $10 more as well.

Paying 500 for a glock from a seller with a 100% iTrader rating and the gun is basically brand new IS worth it. Why pay $40.00-$50.00 more in tax?

Again. I sold a Glock 17 gen 4 with some holster wear for 500 not too long ago so I don’t appreciate you trying to assassinate my character.

You guys in oc are lucky to have rifle gear. I only hear good things about them.

Either you aren't experienced with the market or you were deliberately asking that much knowing the price was high. 2 things I’d like to gripe about...

1) Why would I buy your used Glock for 500 when the LGS will sell me a brand new one for the same price? True, I have to pay tax of ~$50 bucks more but I get a BRAND NEW Glock. $450 is more reasonable.
I love glocks and I love gun owners. Not bashing anyone. However, let’s be more reasonable folks. Thank you.

You don’t need to be a cop to get a blue label Glock. Sign up for the Glock sport shooting foundation ($60 for a two year membership) and they send you a coupon for a $425 glock every year. And they have three mags instead of two.

So Glock gives away guns? Every year a new gun? For $30. a year they give you a free gun?

Sorry I triggered you. We have a clear misunderstanding.

I think rarer glocks should go for more. I think the fact that glocks keep such high used value is the most praise for how good they are. Rtf2 are limited and rare. Gen 5 are even more scarce. A used gen 3 in Cali is not rare.

Edit: gen 4 have been around for quite a bit. Their value should be a fraction more than a gen 3.
