For more "seasoned shooters", do you still shoot .22 or .380 handguns?

Joined the Army at 17 and I've been shooting ever since. I'm now 50. It's been a while since I've shot in any competition; last time was at the Ontario Indoor Range.

I take one of my .22's to the range every time I go. I usually start out my session with 150-200 rounds of .22's to get the muscle memory working again.

Then I'll go through a few hundred rounds of what ever centerfire rounds I brought with me. I've already warmed up and I feel that my target results are better for it.

To close out my trip I'll put another 150-200 rounds through the .22.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

      Yep!

Both calibers are fun to shoot and help people to become comfortable with guns.

I have to admit that to me, a .22 shooting paper targets just isn't that interesting. However, I love to shoot steel with .22s and even more fun, going out to some BLM land with a bunch of tin cans (which of course I clean up afterwards). Heck if I'm shooting cans I'll even bring out my little top break .32 S&W revolver, which is pretty tame compared to a .22!

Don't shoot .380 but have a couple of handguns in 9mm Mak (CZ82 & P64). I take them to the range almost every time I go.

I go to the indoor range at 2 to 3 times a week, I can not afford the ammo cost so I have to shoot .22LR.
Oops, forget about .380ACP, had two .380ACP pistols, I don't even know where they are, the only thing I remember is they are in the safe somewhere.

Off topic: The .22RL pistols and rifles price is very cheap compare to the other calibers. For $350 I can buy a Buckmark Camper pistol, for the other calibers what can I buy with $350 ? (some of you guy will say the Hi-Point, right ) For $180 I can buy .22RL Marlin-60 rifle for the other calibers what $180 can buy ?
I rather spend more time shooting than collecting.

Got rid of the .22 wheel guns but kept 2 semi autos....Browning buckmark and Ruger SR22. Got rid of my .380s too since my Shield 9MM is about the same size.

I shoot turtles and snakes in my neighbors pond with a .22 Magnum and thoroughly enjoy it. .380 is like a midget with an axe. It may be small, but do you really want a piece of that?

I have .22 kits for 1911, BHP, and CZ 75. I also have a Ruger mk2 heavy barrel and they are all used a lot.

I love my .22 handguns and shoot them as often as possible. I have a Ruger SR-22, Ruger Single-Six, and S&W Model 18 that are a blast to shoot.

For those that think 22 is boring, just up the challenge. Set up some fired 12 gauge hulls on a rail, anywhere from 10-25 yards. When you can clean that, move then farther, then go to 20 gauge, or even .410 gauge. Use iron sights. It will force one to control the gun while the triger is pressed.

This can be used as an end of match shoot-off exercise, or just use the hulls for teh stop plate. . Lots of fun, for little $$. We did this a few times after steel matches.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

Do still shoot .22 & 380 handguns at what? That is a better question.

First gun out of the bag is 22-45...I put a couple hundred downrange in the smallest targets available... hones those eroded skills..

                                I like old school .380s.
Beretta 84, 70 Jaguar, CZ83, Astra Constable, PPK/s, etc. They are cool looking guns that can be fun to plink around with. I wouldn't use any of those to introduce a new shooter, but they are their own kind of fun.
I don't shoot as much .22LR as I used to. Used to shoot a few thousand rounds a week when I lived close to a decent range. It's easy to shoot and can be pretty fun if you challenge yourself. The wife likes shooting 22LR, so it's still a staple.
