I may pick up another Pro, just to have a spare - but I've always admired the full rail TRP and never owned one. Perhaps I'll pick one of those up - the Pro with the rail is obviously fantastic, but half rail 1911's just don't look as nice to me as the full rail TRP.

And yes, Springfield's custom service is fantastic. Back when the Custom Shop was still a real custom shop, I had SACS build me several full custom Colts, they improved a Les Baer for me, I sent them a CA-approved Custom Carry for a full rework... and I have been 100% happy every time.

I recently got a bag of spare grip screws finished in Black-T for my Pro, after I stripped a screw being lazy and not using a proper screwdriver. Guess how much Springfield charged me for the screws and shipping? Yup... nothing.
The trp full rail is nothing special. It is heavy, but shoots well.
I hate having to have tools to disassemble the gun, and because of the bull barrel you have to have a tool to disassemble.
If you have surplus money, I would say go ahead and buy one, but if you don't, the premium is not worth it.

I'm out of the loop, what happened to the custom shop? Did they get shut down?

Back when I was a broke college student, I use to love downloading their 1911 service pdf and daydreaming about checking all the boxes on things I wanted to get done on my MC Operator. Just looked at it again for the first time in at least 5 years and they have a quarter of the options!!
