will the Springfield "MIL SPEC" accept standard GI firing pins?

Fernando became an American the courageous way. By outrunning the speed boat.

My Nighthawk is the best 1911 I have ever come across.Never seen the Professional in person though.I do have several Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Ed Brown...they are all wonderful. Surprised to hear Springfield has something that beats them all.

Wish I could say the same for my Loaded 1911 9mm. First 300 rounds I was getting consistent malfunctions (failure to eject). Took about 1000 rounds till it was fully "broken in". It still fails to lock back on the last round from time to time. With both OEM mags and Wilson Combat ETM. It's also picky about ammo, it prefers 124gr, Q4318, 147gr.

Been really wanting to sell mine, but feel like it's unfair to sell a gun that doesn't function 100%

I have a Nighthawk Custom as well, in addition to numerous top-tier 1911's from others, and the SA Professional. I think the Nighthawk has the best workmanship of all of them. Granted we are talking the most minor of details, but at the price points these sell for, the smallest detail can matter

I've been planning to buy an SA 1911 loaded 9mm the only reason i did not do it this year coz my resources were concentrated on ammo procurement. Hopefully I won't have the same experience as yours. I just don't think I can continue to afford shooting 45acp with the coming ammo regulations.

I bought a new SA 1911 9mm last year and put a few hundred rounds through it . I had one FTE but no slide lock issues. Im not saying 1911 are perfect (but they are) . Its a YMMV type deal

^^^^ you waited too long for a problem to fix itself.

One out of every so many 150K thousand dollar cars will have a flaw and be less than absolute perfect. The solution is not to drive it until it fixes itself.

Same goes for guns and they are mostly around 1K to $1500 bucks. Realistic expectation is to get one that is less than perfect every so often.

See a problem with your gun? Fix it if you know how, or ask some one who knows. Mechanical gizmos rarely fix themselves.

Springfield fixes any problem no questions asked and they pay for shipping both ways. Why not ask them to fix the gun for you.

Actually, sending it to them was the first thing I did. It had to go back to them twice. Springfield customer service was awesome. They covered shipping both ways, the second time they even refinished the gun with no extra charge. Breaking it in with hotter loads was actually the cs rep's advice.

I really like my Pro, and just got some JM Custom Kydex gear to carry it. The TRP was my first 1911.

I may pick up another Pro, just to have a spare - but I've always admired the full rail TRP and never owned one. Perhaps I'll pick one of those up - the Pro with the rail is obviously fantastic, but half rail 1911's just don't look as nice to me as the full rail TRP.

And yes, Springfield's custom service is fantastic. Back when the Custom Shop was still a real custom shop, I had SACS build me several full custom Colts, they improved a Les Baer for me, I sent them a CA-approved Custom Carry for a full rework... and I have been 100% happy every time.

I recently got a bag of spare grip screws finished in Black-T for my Pro, after I stripped a screw being lazy and not using a proper screwdriver. Guess how much Springfield charged me for the screws and shipping? Yup... nothing.
