Daaaaannnnggg..... that is a very pretty Desert Eagle, I'm so torn on getting Chrome or all Black..... some deep thought will happen while I save for a used one.



Thank you for sharing your experience, I think I will end up doing what you did, get the 44 mag and get the barrel and mags for the 50 AE later.

Buy it if you want, I've only ever held them and haven't shot them personally.
But I imagine it to be a really fun range toy.

They are VERY picky about ammo. My Brother's throws the brass directly into your forehead. You MUST reload for them (or have tons of money) b/c they only function with VERY high powered rounds. Many is the times I have been at the range watching some poor dude trying to shoot his brand new DE with Blazer or Wolf ammo. He gets a single shot pistol.

A couple of nits:

The CA version of the DE is 99.99% the same gun as the free-state version of the original Mk XIX and only differs in the use of a firing pin block with an impact safety on the rosterred version.

As for the trigger: I haven't shot a US-made DE, so can't comment. The CA rosterred DE is still made by IWI on contract for Magnum Research / Kahr, while the non CA version, and all accessories, are made domestically. Possible that the triggers are different, especially as the platform grows into more models. The XIX models have an adjustable trigger, BTW.

But, Magnum Research has started selling the IWI-made guns again in free states as the DE Classic for those that still think the IWI guns are more special. It's really an excuse to keep IWI making the black finish as I suspect they don't sell well in CA and most sold here are finished in other colors.

Desert Eagle for home defense?
Guess, it makes a good club!

So, I've got the Desert Eagle bug, thinking about this as my next handgun, never handled one, but will when I get to my LGS tomorrow. Who has one, I'm pretty sure I'd be looking to buy used, I think brand new these things are quite expensive.

Uses:
-Range Toy
-Home Defensive via power projection
-Hand Cannon

Who has one and likes it? Personal experience?

Hicock45 shot CCI Blazer aluminum cased through his 44 mag DEagle and it ran flawless. He did explain he had problems with it until he gave it a thorough cleaning. First time I've seen this video and personally I wouldn't have thought the Aluminum case Blazer will be reliable through the DEagle.

I shot a Desert Eagle .50 once. I didn't think the recoil was that bad when compared to a .45LC that was loaded a little on the hot side. That was a miserable experience.
