Possibly one of the most overused phrases in the 1911 nerd lexicon.

For me, I would buy the TRP full rail over the Cbob mainly because I feel the Cbob is overpriced and I own a Cbob. While the Cbob is a great carry gun and fun to shoot, The TRP is a better bang for the buck and has all the bells and whistles.

In before HopetonBrown adds 'bang for the buck' and 'bells and whistles' to the overused 1911 nerd lexicon!

I own a CBOB and I have to say the bobtail just melts in my hand. It helps for concealment but it really does make a difference on how it feels. I've handled but not shot a TRP. I'd choose the CBOB for the feel. If it was a self defense gun on the nightstand and I wanted a light on it, then the TRP would be the choice. But for that purpose I've got a plastic gun which if used would be a lot less painful to have confiscated by the police.

The TRP full rail is pretty awesome. Dan Wesson is Dan Wesson. If you're going to the range or using for home defense, go with the TRP. If carry, go with the Dan Wesson.

Thanks everyone for your input... It will be mostly home defense and range gun. I will not carry. Seems pretty even at this point

That said, I'd save a few more bucks and go Les Baer. Those are no nonsense built to perform shooters guns.

Les Baer makes excellent 1911's, but I've heard too many horror stories about the customer service. a Les Baer with customer service/warranty on the level of Springfield would be a dream come true.

DW. Never understood what the admiration was with the TRP. I have a stable of 1911's and feel the TRP isn't even in the same fit and finish league as the DW's. I feel performance wise they will be close but the fit and finish will be much better in the DW.

The TRP is considered to be one of the better "non semi-custom" 1911's. Not everyone can justify spending 2k+ on a handgun, especially someone that isn't a 1911 aficionado and/or understands why the semi-customs are priced the way they are. I doubt anyone considers the TRP to be as good as a Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, etc. Another attractive thing about the TRP is fact that it is backed by an excellent lifetime warranty. The only thing that's stopping me from buying one is that recent situation with Springfield. If they can turn things around, I'll buy one.

I have a non railed TRP and a C Bob. The fit and finish is pretty close, with th DW only slightly better between our two specific guns. The finish on some of the interior surfaces of the DW are actually not as good. I do not carry the C Bob, I just wanted to try it, and I definitely do not like it as much. The sights came setup for a 6 o'clock hold and their front sight is a less common cut and harder to find in the height and style I want. For range use, a government model wins the day. Overall our TRP is our favorite to shoot.

I would have to agree about the CS of LB. Sometimes I've heard it was stellar and sometimes, not so stellar and frankly quite stinky. Ask me how I know. I was on the receiving end of the not so stellar. However, once the issues were addressed, the thing runs and runs.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, to echo another poster's sentiment, the SA TRP is the best 'production' semi-custom out there.

However, aside from personal preferences, I wouldn't turn down either pistol.

I'm done with Springfield for multiple reasons and while they make great guns, to me they were just meh. Sold my TRP's (as noted above, the best production 1911 for the money) sold my railed TRP's, Range Officers and finally the railed Pro. The only one left is the EMP and I'm keeping that one, lots of fun to shoot and really accurate for it's size.

My only other two 1911's are a 9mm Dan Wesson Guardian that is the smoothest gun I've ever owned and a Les Baer Custom Carry, no fcs and no ambi. I like the Baer because it's no frills and it's built like a tank.

It all depends on what you want to spend and what options you're looking for, they are all good options.
