My guess is I will give it to him when he gets married, he will then sell it for part of a downpayment on a house, then I will cry and punch him in the nuts for being dumb.

Be sure to save all the photos of it as well. In later years, I think he'd likely cherish, especially, the ones that show your hands. And make sure that you take some photos of you holding it where he can see your smiling face.

Great work on the beavertail and slide fitting. Since you had it engraved and all, I assume you started with an 80%? Did you do the machine work yourself?

I like it with the melonite finish. The custom touches are subtle, and the melonite finish gives it a very business like appearance.

My father gave my (then 16-year-old) son a 4" Colt Python. He asked me how much was it worth and I told him "a lot." I'm confident, though, that he'll think long and hard before parting with a gift of this magnitude from his (now gone) grandfather.

As for the OP's pistol. Very nice! I gave my older boy a DW Valor when he graduated college, but that pales compared to something you built yourself for your kid. You just better pray that he's not a Glock fanatic when he grows up.
