1911 or Glock?? I like both. Used to own 2 Glocks (17 and 21), and now...none. I currently have 4 1911s...thinking of getting a Glock as I miss my Glock 21.

They are all fun to shoot, in my opinion.

They're light throw-away guns. I'm sure you are aware that they don't carry handguns as a primary weapon.

I enjoy shooting my 1911s more than any other handgun in my collection. However my bugout bag has a Glock in it.

In a SHTF scenario, I want a gun that has the following attributes:
          1.) Low maintenance
          2.) Light weight
          3.) Higher capacity mags
          4.) Easy to replace parts
5.) Can be used by a friend or family member that isn't an expert with firearms

My main target and home defense gun is my colt commander. Its a great reliable gun and i shoot it so well.

My only glock i own is a g20 and bought it for the 10mm round that is my main camp outdoors gun. Each have their purpose i just prefer 1911 except for this case here on 10mm.Hard to argue the glocks reliability and simple gun that works great i just prefer 1911 most times.

you guys are too funny but not too observant.
I just wanted to poke fun at my buddy for unexpectedly accepting the glock side.

I can't wait to see what his Glock looks like within the first few weeks, I'm envisioning something like this with an RMR on top

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

Get Bacon!!! Jokes aside, I love my SA milspec 1911 over my glock 17 simply because "I" can make hits at 25yards a hell of a lot more than I can with my stock glock 17. While at 8 yards and in I love them just the same (Edge to the glock because it's lighter to me)

Get a Glock and a good 1911, and be done with your handgun needs. Move on to more important things, like battle rifles, or reading the Great Books of Western Civilization.

No 1911 for me ever again. I learned the hard way. Caveat Emptor.

Well, I can shed some light on this. First off, they do. Second, it's not about affording. Once the video games are shut off, logistics become important. Everyone wants a different pistol but in the very real world of the military, you can't do that... not even in the special operations arena. Professional military or police folks are not armorers (Oh, and not rich either, they just dont buy any gun they want or Les Baer would equip them all)

One group one gun one armorer. One Ammo. And there are bids. Handguns, outside of video games, are rarely put to use. Armies go lethal, than reliable, then cheap. Also note, the US military recently selected none of the above and went with the far more flexible and useful SIG.

So cost is extremely important, super ninja squirrel forces use what they are issued, some of those units still use the 1911 in small batches and in fact, in the US, it will be the Glock going the way of the dodo.

I own and love both pistols. The Glock is cheap and light and carrying it is pleasant. But if I wasn't concealing it, forget it. I would pick the 1911. But then forget both and have the best of both worlds. To me, neither the 1911 nor the Glock are really that great.

My choice for a go to war gun is the Browning Hi Power. It requires far less armorer support most likely than the 1911 or the Glock, is more reliable than both, more accurate out of the box and its all metal.

Really to each his own. I don't own a Glock not because I think it's a bad handgun I just haven't found one I like to shoot. If there was one best handgun there would be one maker and one model. I for one love shooting the 1911 platform.

                            I love my Glock 19 but it is like shooting a 2 x 4. A really straight shooting 2 x 4 but nonetheless.

Shoot what you enjoy. It's completely and absolutely subjective to the individual and is in no way reflective of the quality of either firearm.

Me, I'm indifferent to Glocks. They work, they're reliable, they're affordable. But I'd never own one, and I've fired them a lot. I like holding a block of steel/metal in my hand. It just feels... *right* to me. Nothing else can suffice. Others don't have this problem.
My feelings exactly. I've never owned a G...probably never will..Doesn't make them an inferior gun in any way, just not for me.
