Sigh....why does it have to be either/or. Why not both.

No 1911 for me ever again. I learned the hard way. Caveat Emptor.
It is because of price and also magazine capacity.

You realize most cops can't shoot straight, thus needing 17 rds of 9mm or 15 rds of .40. I'm not LEO bashing here by any means, as I have plenty of LEO friends and they say the same thing.

If the 1911 was so terrible, then why did the Army use it for 70+ years? How long has the Army used blocks? Is that silence I hear?

I've never heard of a block Pro used by the FBI? Nope. Springfield Armory Pro, yes!

If 1911's suck so bad, then why are the limited and open divisions of USPSA dominated by 2011's which are based on the 1911 design? Yes, there are plenty of block race guns, but not nearly as many as 2011's.

Bottom line, 1911's aren't for everyone, just like blocks aren't for everyone. You enjoy your fugliness and I'll continue to enjoy this.....

        This **** again.

Shoot what you enjoy. It's completely and absolutely subjective to the individual and is in no way reflective of the quality of either firearm.

Me, I'm indifferent to Glocks. They work, they're reliable, they're affordable. But I'd never own one, and I've fired them a lot. I like holding a block of steel/metal in my hand. It just feels... *right* to me. Nothing else can suffice. Others don't have this problem.

"Liberty, as well as honor, man ought to preserve at the hazard of his life, for without it life is insupportable." - Miguel de Cervantes

I used to be 1911. Now I recognize both are a master design for the specific purpose

The average police officer has to carry their side arm for a full shift five days a week, but will never shoot it in the line of duty.

The average calgunner isn't allowed to carry a gun, but shoots a few hundred rounds for fun every range visit.

The use cases are completely different.

Some 1911s have ramped barrels and/or double wide polymer grip frames. There's a lot of room for variation.

Regardless, we're gun owners not car guys where Ford vs. Chevy is an issue because we don't have room for more than one hobby car. With even the smallest safes having room for multiples our motto is "Buy 'em all!"

1911 or Glock? 1911, Glock, Sig, Hi Power, buy them all.
AR or AK? AR, AK, HK 93, Tavor, buy them all.
              Simple.

                Caveman1: You want stone?
                Caveman2: No, need Glock.
                Caveman1: Better get stone, No?
Caveman2: No, Glock got no bull-shEEts.
                Caveman1: No..No..No, stone need no bull-EEts.

Maple you poltroon!!! Any fool can see the benefits of maple over lowly walnut or plywood. The army's been using maple for generations, so it must be gooder. Even SWATHRTSVUNTSFSUV and Delta Team 6 all use maple, for its obvious benefits.

We all know the Army only uses what's best, not what they get for the lowest bid. And we also know that all police and law enforcement armorers only supply their troops with the equipment that is best for the job, not what they think is more Gucci or slick, or trendy, right?

A Los Angeles Police officer told me they are approved for Glocks & 1911's.

I like them both for different reasons but I prefer my Sig P226 over anything else.
