They are one of the slickest looking 1911s IMHO.. I have ultimate respect for the classic look, as I have 2. But my unicorn is a full railed 9mm 1911, much like the Springfield Full Rail Operator posted earlier, but I'd like to find one in the TRP Full rail price range. Really surprised nobody has released one, aside from RIA. Or at least a full railed 80% frame...

Love the look of the classic 1911 - a full rail dramatically changes the overall appeal for me (and I'm guessing a lot of others based on supply).

Also, a lot of the things you'd attach on a rail in the front go well w/ a lot of the polymer guns. Personally if I was looking for a gun to attach something to, it wouldn't be the 1911, but that is simply preference. The half rail looks fine though.

No rail and naked slide on the supergrade for me.

The TRP full rail is the most bad *** looking 1911. IMHO.

That's ok. We'll agree that you'll shoot at unidentified targets in your house and I'll agree to be a target in my house LOL

I've got kids at my house and one night they'll be coming home late and I don't want to mistake them for an intruder.

I wanted to get my hands on a full rail TRP %99 for the looks, then when I actually held it and later fired it I realized why it was such an amazing gun. Now it's my bedside gun

If I'm the intruder intending to do harm in someone else's house, why would I care if the target is unidentified?

My flash light is held by the other hand, I can still identify my target without possibly and inadvertently indicating my vital parts to an intruder.

To be back on topic, only my polymer guns have rails because it seems almost every manufacturer think they go hand in hand (except my Shield), but I won't mount a light on them for home defense.

No rail is good. 1/2 rail is semi ok. Rail is a no go. If you want a rail put it on your AR or buy a Glock. I'm all about function in my guns but just can't see putting a rail on my 1911s. I won't buy one with it. I'll leave those guns for you that like them.

I think you misunderstood what is he is saying.

So are you holding your flashlight weak handed fully extended away from your body?

That's what momentary on switches are for. Use it to blind them then shut it off. Humans don't have video game soldier reflexes and abilities so they won't shoot back at a light that severely blinds them in a tenth of a second.

I wouldn't walk around with the light constantly on as that would too easily indicate your position, but assuming you were in a dark home to begin with, your pupils should be wide enough to make your way through the dark home effortlessly. Not to mention you have the advantage of knowing your own homes layout.

If you see a baddie, shine the light for a split second which is enough to temporarily impair his night vision (quite a while actually). I almost consider that a silent flashbang. This should give you enough time to identify and engage if necessary.

You can do your own tests at home. You'll find that even with pupils wide open, shining a 200 lumen weapon light away from you won't blind you, but if you're on the receiving end, you'll lose much of your night vision for probably around 10 seconds, possibly more. Have a friend shine that light at you and re-evaluate if you think someone else might be able to place a good shot at the light while it's moving.
