I see no reason why Glock can't develop a 2nd line of pistols with a little more character.

Yup, and it shows. For example, some time back I was waiting to renew my ccw or add/subtract one to make room for my new best friend and I watched to see what the people who were there for their initial ccw's had with them. A couple of people (not together) had little snub nose revolvers, one was a woman with a NICE S/W 'Lady Smith' with wood grips. CLEARLY these two had put some thought into what would not only be a good firearm but also a good choice for a ccw firearm. Then there was this mother/daughter pair. They both had mid size (not 26/27's, more like 19's) Glocks. I could hear it as if I was standing at the gun counter with them, 'I don't know ANYTHING about guns but my friend says Glocks are good'. Or sure Glocks CAN be good IF you have some background in guns, especially semi auto pistols. I could just imagine these two bringing the guns back to the gun store when they were unable to clear a jam, then start looking at more reasonable weapons for them, such as what the one lady had, a small, easy to use (pull the trigger it goes bang, if it doesn't, pull it again) revolver.

Sights, aesthetics, grip angle, polymer...there are many reasons why people don't like Glock. But there are many more reasons why people love them: simplicity, reliability, after-market options, etc. I personally do not own any Glocks, but I shoot them pretty often and think they are really good/great guns. My Glock-owning friends are very dedicated to the brand and some are in the Glock-only camp LOL.

The rear U sight sucks, I'll give you that... but again, that's a preference thing. There are lots of different types of sights, Glock just picked one and applied it to all their pistols. No matter what they picked, people would complain.
I agree sight choice is preference thing. But i think stock glock sights are also a quality issue, they're probably the lowest quality sights on a factory gun. There is no reason they don't put some simple steel sights similar to the defoor ameriglos on them from the factory. You won't please everyone but i think 99% of shooters would agree it's an upgrade.

Is it even possible to watch one of his videos and hear what he's saying, with all the text on the screen?

You are correct, sir - it's an upgrade. If it were standard, it would be (wait for it.....) STANDARD. My G26 left the factory wearing upgraded night sights (meprolites, I believe) which was part of a $40 upgrade package that included a deeeeeluxe Glock Combat plastic holster. Never used the holster, but the sights are excellent.

I do have ten or so Glocks with the standard plastic fixed sights, and have yet to break one - and I treat some of them pretty harshly. I'm waiting for at least one to break before I buy a bunch of sights.

He said something that made me think about Glock. He states that Glocks are becoming irrelevant because they don't change very much, and I am starting to agree with him. Glock made little changes from generation to generations, but I do understand that they want to keep the handguns simple; but they can make changes such as putting on better sights, make a full 1913 Picatinny rails, a better trigger shoe are some of the changes. I thought it was interesting.

                What do you guys think?

They are one of the few semi-auto guns still on the California roster. They are not irrelevant. The 1911 45ACP pistol is irrelevant, and it and its variants are probably the most sold gun in the US. The 1911 pistol has only had a few slight improvements over the year. Most people couldn't tell the difference between a new one and an original one.

Glock already made a gun with a Picatinny rail. I don't think it was popular. I think the saw tooth edge was unpopular for concealed carry.

Why put on better sights. The cheapo plastic sights work good enough. Why pay $20 more for a gun that has steel sights just so you can toss them in the trash and buy other sights. Glock already offers versions of their guns with Trijicon sights. Are they suppose to put $200 sights on a $500 gun and expect people to still buy them?

I bought my first Glock 17 over 30 years ago. I plan on buying another Glock 17 this year. They work.

Well, you never specified compact, just CCW:

                    So full size we have:
Sig 220, Colt Delta Elite, Kimber Eclipse Custom, Kimber Eclipse Custom II, Kimber Camp Guard, Dan Wesson Bruin, RZ-10, Wilson Combat CQB, Wilson Hunter, CQB Elite, Classic Supergrade, CQB Tactical LE, Classic, and Kimber Custom TLE.

Limiting it to compacts, we have: Smith & Wesson 1076/1066/1086, Dan Wesson CBOB, Dan Wesson Commander Classic BobTail, EAA Wonder10, EEA Witness Compact.

If you limited your choice to the one gun company with the worst triggers, then you'd be stuck with the Glock brand.

These developement costs for the Gen 3 where recovered long ago. However molds and machining eventually wear out. At some point sales of Gen 3 fall below a profitable threshold. ( Glock just released for retail sale their stock of warranty replacement Gen 3 as they no longer have institutional clients for Gen 3.) While Glock won't tell you when that is going to occur, it may be in the very near future.

Civilians in California buy more Glock pistols every year than some smaller countries. If they kill the Gen 3, they will be killing themselves.

I have only seen one person with a light on their glock rail...

maybe that should be a poll... those with a CHL- what % have a light on the firearm
Make it two then, I keep a TLR-1 light on my G17. It's my "Home Defense" gun. One reason why is that I switched from Glock 17/34 to PPQ for USPSA, so I gotta do something with the 17, and slapping a light on it and putting it in a "nightstand" safe seems the perfect thing.

Irrelevant? I don't even know what that means regarding a firearm.

Are there better guns out there, yes.

Not saying that's better, but when nailing stuff in close quarters (like the mudsill of your house with very short cripple walls, etc) ... that's pretty good.

When I got my Glock 34, I was putting it into the safe when I dropped it on the WOOD floor. When I picked it up, the front sight was no longer rectangular, as it landed on the front and so it was sort of squashed down/dented. I was going to replace them with Warren/Sevigny sights anyway so no loss AND the gun was still fully functional even with a dented front sight (or "place holder").
