100% agree with your gun/cartridge of choice (G29 is also my carry pistol), and I totally get why you are using the 6" barrel, but it sure does look weird. Seems like the barrel would be poking my leg if I were carrying it IWB (as I do). I have long considered changing mine to a different barrel length, but I was thinking more along the lines of 4.25". The tradeoff is I'd lose ~75 ft/lb of muzzle energy versus a 6" barrel, but I think it would still be plenty effective. For the time being I'm perfectly content with my stock 3.8" barrel - with Underwood loads it's still pushing a good 700 ft/lbs.

I have a 10mm Delta Elite and a .44mag Super RedHawk, so I have a bit of experience with them both. Even with hot Underwood 10mm ammo (one of the few factory rounds actually loaded to full 10mm power), there is no way in hell I'd carry that over my .44mag with 300gr Buffalo Bore hard cast rounds. Sure, bears have been killed with 10mm, but they've also been killed with .22lr, so just because it can be done does not make it the right tool for the job. Besides, I much prefer knowing that if a grizzly charged from the other side of my truck my 300gr hard cast rounds could shoot through my truck, through the grizzly, and still take down a moose.

There's no doubt that 44mag is substantially more powerful than 10mm, but to me it's a size/weight/power tradeoff I usually wouldn't want to make. I believe that Underwood rounds with Lehigh bullets would be plenty to penetrate a bear's vitals, even through bone. So, for me, it's not worth carrying a much larger/heavier gun when I feel that what I have is good enough to do the job. Like someone just mentioned in another similar thread, if I had to actually defend myself against a bear attack then I'd love it if I had a .50BMG with me! But that doesn't mean I'm going to go hiking around with one all the time. Gotta draw the line somewhere, and for me that line is drawn between 10mm and 44mag. Everyone has a different line, and I can appreciate that.
Now, if I was bear hunting, or travelling through a grizzly-infested area, I might opt for 44mag due to the increased likelihood that I'll be using it against a bear. Also, FWIW, a while back I sold 200rds of 10mm Underwood Xtreme Penetrators to a guy who was going to use it during hike through grizzly country in Alaska. Apparently he felt pretty confident that it would do the trick.
I suppose I should check on him to see if he made it back alive before I use that argument

I used to carry a big revolver whenever in Alaska until about 10 years ago.
I noticed all the guides, locals, and bush pilots were carrying 10mm Glocks. I was then educated fully about the reason why at Wild West Guns in Anchorage. I also wanted the comfort of having 15+1 instead of 5 or 6.
A distant second was the .460 Rowland.

I tooled around a lot of years and a lot of miles with a 5.5 inch super black hawk...... I found that pistol an actual pleasure to pack.
The 10 does have it's place .... no doubt
..... if I ever had to fight my way through the ghetto to go hunting ..... The 10 would be my choice (drops mike-mic-you get the picture)
