Sounds like you're talking yourself out of it. Just buy it and post pics after.

if you have enough to survive on if laid off for 6 months without hurting then buy it. Like many have said, you only live once and can't take the money with you.

If you buy it and it causes a divorce, it will be a more expensive gun than what you thought it was.

Looks like I'm the wet blanket, but I'm just like you, in the quote above. We paid off the house, THEN I knew it was time to treat myself to the Les Baer. I know there's something to be said for "just buy it!" but it's too easy for a bunch of strangers on the Internet to say.

          Oh, and now I want a G34.

I always do the old "can you afford it without sacrificing anything essential?"..."are you likely to get a better deal or option in the near future?"..."what is the likelihood you'll be happy with the purchase a year or two from now?"...if all those answers are positive (not necessarily yes, but positive) I say go for it if it's what you want. Disclaimer-my wife and I don't share bank accounts, so when I spend money on guns or she spends money on shoes, we don't harass each other about it. Good luck....and as mentioned above, post pictures when you buy it

sounds like it isn't even close to causing any sort of financial hardship, so the next thing to consider is how much it will add to your enjoyment of the hobby.

you shoot three matches a month which, in my opinion, is plenty to justify a $3,000 gun purchase. if someone golfs/cycles/skis 3x per month, they'd certainly be justified in buying high-end clubs/bikes/skis, etc... shooting should be no different.

I have a good saving account so no problem feeding and paying mortgage lol. I shoot 3 matches a month and I have owned an STI before and sold it and lost about $1000 and regret selling it and funny thing is my wife said don't sell it you know you will want one again and sure enough I'm here 1 year later and she said I told you so. I miss the weight I miss the look I miss the trigger and just owning it. But when it boils down my performance wasn't any different between the glock 34
This is a win win. She gets to hear how right she was, you get a 3k pistol and the wife is happy she gets to go on a shopping spree. If you've got the money go for it!

Heh, an alcoholic going to an AA meeting asking whether he should have another drink.

Of course you should buy it!

(And no, it's not like alcohol - guns keep value way better than many other things so at least part of that money is an investment, not spending.)

Do I need it absolutely not I'm sure I can do just fine with my current setup (Glock 34) but the opportunity presented itself and it's just one of those things. How do you justify spending this much on a Pistol. Specifically ways to get my wife on the same page lol. I keep talking myself out of it. I say it won't make you better shooter spent the money on better things lol can't think of anything better yet. But $3000 for a pistol and. That's just the beginning. What does everyone think

buy it before it goes off roster. then you'll be paying a lot more for it. if you need justification that should suffice.

I remember having this same dilemma, although it was with a nice Bill Davis S&W ppc Revolver. Although I only shoot under a half dozen matches a year with it, it's totally worth it.

As you already know, only you can make the determination. Sounds like you're financially sound enough to take the hit. Do it. And if you've always wanted a motorcycle, do that too

It is not on the roster, he is already paying a premium for a $2,000 gun ( https://dawsonprecision.com/sti-2011-edge-9x19/ ). That being said it is a huge upgrade over a Block 34.

They can be had cheaper though at 2,200 - 2,400 or so in the Marketplace. One thing to add, the factory STI Edge will need a trigger job to bring the trigger pull down from factory 4-5 lbs to the 1.5lbs range, which costs about $375 including the parts.
