Compared to the M&P 40

The gun is a bit heavier than the M&P40 and even though the bore axis is a little higher, I found that it was easier to shoot and for me, got me better consistent accuracy than my M&P40 with the same loads. What I mean by better consistent accuracy is that from range trip to range trip, the accuracy was more consistently good with the 2022. With the M&P40, some days I'll have good groups, other days I was convinced I couldn't hit water if I fell out of a boat. The 2022 was just more consistent probably because of the much shorter pull and follow through of the SA trigger. I know it's the shooter, not the gun but some guns amplify bad technique while others are more immune to it. The 2022 is more immune to it for me.

The DA trigger was really long and did not break until the trigger nearly touched the front of the grip. Consequently, the SA trigger was sitting right at the front of the grip like with a 1911 and as soon as the trigger broke, it stopped.

But being that I already had an M&P 40 and could convert it to a 9mm with the barrel and mag swap, I thought I couldn't justify keeping the 2022 and sold it at a loss to a friend who wanted it.

So long as the slide release position and the perceived "poor man's Sig" image doesn't bother you (it certainly didn't bother me), the SP2022 in 40 is a great gun at a much lower price point than the typically higher than average priced Sigs.



I still have the M&P40 and after the Apex upgrade I'm more consistently good, but that was another $100+ expense.

My pops had one that he later sold to a friend. I shoot it a few times and I liked it nothing special in my opinion but a great gun for the money. I was actually thinking about getting one in 9mm as my first handgun but I went with a fnp 9mm instead

I don't know what you think a SIG 2022 is going for nowadays, but a quick price check showed prices around $450.

Smart folks got their when they were on sale for less than $400

I have around 2k rounds through my sp2022 .40 s&w not a single malfunction ever. Most reliable pistols I own and I got it at turners for $399! Almost the best gun purchase I have ever made. But I still prefer my glock. ��

Said nobody who owns a VP9, P30 or about 20 other high-end polymer frame 9mm.

Sp2022 are on the low side, along with XD . Glocks are more expensive, then you have your hK's which are on the high side.

Holsters are sort of hard to find as well.

They're essentially interchangeable with an XD service (4"). Pretty much any holster for the XD the Sig will fit in naturally.

Great duty/carry/night stand gun. Trigger and sights are lacking if you're just going to shoot paper.
