I have owned the 9mm but sold it to make room for something different. I will be totally honest in saying I wish I would have kept it, it was pleasant to shoot.

I have the 40. Great little pistol. I've shot the crap out of it (~7k rounds) and it hasn't missed a beat. I can't recall it ever having a malfunction of any kind.

If only looking to shoot paper at 10-25, why pay $0.10 more/round??

Love the gun, but hate the sights.

Most owners I've encountered in person and read on forums have had to get used to the sight picture.

Personally, sending in my gun to SIG to adjust/replace the night sights with a "size 9" rear sight has been on my to do list for a while, just haven't actually done it.

With my current sights, the front sight dot has to be aligned above the two rear dots in order to get an accurate shot at 15-20 yards.

I'm used to have all three dots lining up, so took some getting used to.

I have the 9mm by the way, paired with a Streamlight TLR 4 light/laser. Ergonomics work great on it for turning on and off the switches with my index fingers.

I have 2- a 9mm and a .40. I also have a .357 Sig barrel for my fo-tay. It lives in my nightstand.
They are excellent pistols and are one of the best values out there for a DA/SA hammer fired pistol. Mags are pretty expensive though.
Holsters are sort of hard to find as well.

I shot one in 9mm, and I strongly and significantly prefer a P226 in 9mm. I imagine the 40 would be the same. If you have the budget for a P226, I would recommend that over the 2022, but if you don't, the 2022 is still a great gun.

I had one. I sold it. Not a bad gun but just wasn't comfortable in the hand for me.

The 226 is also twice the price. The 2022 is an outstanding value and a great overall gun.

It is definitely one of the most underrated guns out there. They go for about $450 or less in the marketplace - what a value.

Love mine in .40
Agree about the sight picture but still would work just fine for self defense.
I reload so the cost difference between .40 and 9mm isn't an issue for me.
If you're comparing the 9mm vs. .40 in the same gun, the 9mm will be a tad more tame in a polymer frame.
I too really like metal frames and if you're locked in on .40 AND the cost isn't an issue, then go with the P226.
They are all fun to shoot and you will become proficient with whatever you practice with. Have fun and stay safe.

I had one in 40... Wouldnt shoot straight if life depended on it...sold it instantly, bought a beretta 92fs inox... Never looked back

I've shot them in all calibers available and have been very happy with it's handling and accuracy. The best part of the 2022 is that they usually come with a better out-of-the-box DA trigger than the 229 or 226.

I've never understood why people compare them to the 226 as the 2022 is the same size as the 229.

I've worked with a couple of clients why had a hard time shooting accurately with the .40, but it turned out to be just a matter of overgripping and trigger cotrol.

The nice thing about the .40 is that you can get a 357SIG barrel for it that would just drop in.

I'm not too thrilled about the sights either, but it was pretty easy to just black out the dots for an all black rear blade

I have one in .40 1k+ rounds no issues. I actually prefer it to my CZ5b in .40.
As previously mentioned mags are not cheap.
