I wondered too, but that would probably cause problems with every round not just the last one. It is still worth a look - remove the mag catch and inspect it to be sure it has no damage that would prevent the mag from locking up at the correct height in the magwell.

If you tried new Gen 4 15rd mags and still have the problem, you can probably rule out mags, mag springs, and followers.

If the mags weren't new I'd still look at the mag spring. One thing you can try to see if a stiffer mag spring would help, is to insert a roughly mag shaped block of wood (rectangle) that is about 1.25" - 1.5" high into the bottom of the mag right above the baseplate. This will preload the spring real good. Then insert 5 or 8 rounds and see if you still have the problem on last round. If you do, no mag spring will help and you can move on to other possibilities.

Also, is this happening with round nose FMJ ammo?

Yes. I shoot almost exclusively Blazer Brass as my practice ammo.

        And they were new.

It could be the slide stop, however it's not locking the slide back. It just goes halfway into battery and the nose of the round more or less catches on the feed ramp. Goes in with a slingshot. I can't get the damn thing to malfunction with the snap caps of course... Ol' reliable maintains its rep when I'm TRYING to get it to fail, of course.

Just replace the recoil spring, I'm willing to bet money that solves your problem.

I respect everyone's input and trying to help, but for the last time... It's not operator error. It is being handled properly. I'm also a lefty, so that rules out Wiley thumbs knocking the slide stop when firing.

I'm going to change out the spring for sure... It's a routine thing that's coming up on its due date anyways. Hopefully that might add enough tension to feed that last round. That's the only thing I could possibly imagine.

Sent you a PM. I'll go through your Glock and replace anything that might be worn no charge!

Maybe the latest recoil spring is no good. Did you see this issue on the first two?

Thinking is this: Recoil spring made improperly in some way, starts to lose tension earlier than it should. Slide returns to battery too slowly, allowing round to hang on feed ramp. Slingshotting slide gives it slightly longer travel, allowing it to build a little more speed, and thus momentum to push the round up the feed ramp.

I'm not an expert and blaming issues on bad OEM parts isn't my usual reaction, but it's a cheap fix to try.

If the slide is over riding the last round or the nose is sort of straight into the ramp or nose diving I would bet it's a weak mag spring.

You don't get much more generous than this... Might want to take him up on it. Then buy him lunch...

Ps, don't pay that guy to "help you out". Try a new recoil spring first. There's a test to check your recoil spring, I'm noy going to type it out as I'm typing with one hand. My left arm is in a sling, so google recoil spring test.

Well I know who I won't be "helping out" in the future.

Did you see anywhere that I said I wanted payment??

He already tried different mags so that rules out the weak mag spring theory.
