^I totally agree there which is why I didn't buy the 5.7 until I had 6 or 7 other pistols in other, more common and readily available calibers. But the original poster asked about the pistol as his first, so I thought the ammo availability and price could be an issue. I know even at good case prices(~$700/delivered/2,000 rounds), 5.7x28 ammo is about $0.35 cents a round....that isn't cheap. Couple the price with the fact that you don't have the convenience of running down to WalMart and buying a couple boxes for weekend plinking with friends, and it may be a slight turn-off...as a first gun especially.
All that said I definitely love mine, but I just think it's a pretty poor choice as a first pistol.
