Glock 19 Question

Sad, but true.
Heard some "trainer" at San Leandro Saturday telling his group to buy G19's for whatever reasons I've heard on YouTube. I've heard the same at other ranges recently.....SEAL this and operator that bs.
It seems there's only 1 caliber, and 1 specific pistol for people starting out.
A decade ago I heard the same thing about Glock 22's BC cops blah and bleh and 40 this and that.
At the same time 226 9mm SEAL this and that.
Recently HK45C blah blah blah
Ridiculous, really.
People should make up their own minds instead of having it made for them ala Hickok45 and people that bought G27's.Comment

HK45c is imo by far the best 45 autoloader (and I am a glock guy)
1911s better for rangeComment

People should listen to people who actually test firearms in real world "no ****" conditions, before making up their minds, especially if the weapon is to be more than a range toy. Many police agencies and militaries around the world chose the G19 for reliability, durability, ease of repair and performance. SEAL Team 6 is a DEVGRP, as is Delta Force. Must be a reason many of those people have chosen the Glock 9mm as their secondary weapon over other brands and calibers. Cost is not an issue to those units, perform and function are. The lower tier groups follow the tier one units recommendations. While some groups may have a choice, all of the SF guys I know carry Glocks (don't know any SEALS, just their boat drivers).Comment

Guess with all this SEAL talk I picked the wrong time to try and get one. I shall keep looking and hunting for one. Just was wondering why they seem so hard to find.
Thank everyone for replies and leads.Last edited by 97F1504RAD; 02-15-2016, 7:44 AM.Comment

I see Gen 3 Glock 19's offered here all the time for $500Comment

9mm's in general have been harder to find and certain popular models like the G19 even harder because they go so quick. From the replies in this thread and others it sounds like they aren't to scarce in lgs. Unless you live in an area like me that has 2 gun stores within 100 mi., rarely get stocked up and priced high.
I was recently on the hunt for an xd9 and found that the online sites, where I signed up for email notifications wouldn't always notify me. I would keep checking throughout the day and find in stock without me receiving any notification. You have to be pretty quick with the online stock too.Comment

I'll stick with our 30S Glocks, for us they work very well.
I have had occasion to run some drills with the HK 45, they are great pistols, but I can't remember: does that model for sale here have a magazine disconnect?
OP: Keep looking, you will find a G19 soon enough. It too is a very simple, reliable, and robust carry gun. Loaded with the Federal 147 HST, I think it's good to go.Last edited by splithoof; 02-15-2016, 10:05 AM.Comment
