My issue with Sig

I have the following Sigs.
P229 .40 - grip too big, trigger too far away. (Going to send in for E2 treatment plus reduced reach trigger) for my smallish hands.
SP2022 9mm - polymer, not so sexy, not striker fired.
1911 Nitron Rail .45 - not a real 1911, external extractor.

Absolutely no issues with reliability or accuracy on any of my Sigs. My Sig 1911 is my most accurate handgun and I can't complain when it shoots where I point it and 5 shot group holes touch each other. Every single Sig I own I would entrust with my life, without a doubt. I loved my glocks too and have no issue with my M&P pistols just to say I'm not a single brand fanboy.

I agree with the OP they suck..
So if you are reading this and want to get rid of your P226 or P228 in 9mm I'll buy it off you so that you don't have to keep an inferior pistol in your heard.

Almost 8k rounds through my Sig 1911... no issues here... I love and trust my Sig 1911.

Looks to me like the inside lips of the plastic base-plate are gone.
Can you confirm that?
Does it look like they have been broken off or does the plastic piece look to be cast wrong?
I know you said he is a swat guy, but it doesn't rule out him 'janking his mag rebuilds and breaking them himself.

Seems like an easy enough fix and actually rules out the gun, the magazine body and the spring/follower.

It was probably just some idiot who didn't know how to take his mags apart and now doesn't want to fess up that he broke them.

I've owned, or shot; Colt 1911, (in the army) M92A1, (in the army and owned one), M&P CORE Pro Series 9mm, Springfield XD, Glock 17, M&P 45, M&P Shield, FNX Tatical....and I just bought and used today, (2/9/16) a SIG P229 Legion.

Until today, I would swear to you that the FNX made me a better and more confident shooter - now I'd tell you the same thing about the P229 Legion.

Only 200 rounds mind you - but comparing action, handling, etc, etc...I'm sold on SIG.

I think you can find someone on this planet that has had the same negative experiences that you have had, but with other brands - you need to think about this - how many total negative experiences have you had - and how many total weapons has SIG produced - now, what's the failure rate on that comparison?

Just jailed my first Sig, P6. I ordered extra P6 mags, not made by Promag, and a set of magazine springs, Wolff +5%. I anticipate the springs to be old and the mags to be dirty, especially since the company selling the mags stated that slide not locking up on the the last round was pretty common with the mags they were selling.
The P6 came with two mags, I brought one home and noticed right away the spring was getting stuck on the last round and not pushing the follower the final 1/4" or so.
If I bang the mag against my hand it 'pops' to the top. Think I'll give it a good clean and light lube. Then wait for my new springs.

SP2022 here; love this pistol. I have put about 1000 rds. of varied manufacturers through it since I bought it new, Sept - 2015.

Recently I fitted a Sig/Tac laser onto the SP2022's rail and took it to an inside range to sight it in..

Headshots are single shots ranged with 3-dot sights; Center-mass holes are Laser aimed. Distance to paper is 50Ft.

I have two P226s (one is a Mk25) and one P229. All factory stock, all U.S. built. They're the best 9mm pistols I've ever owned. They're also the most accurate. Relative to what, you ask? I also own an early Italian Beretta 92 and HK USP Compact 9 which are great pistols and keepers, but the Sigs are better. Sold my Glock 9mms....can't shoot them very well. Glock is not in the same league as Sig, but Glocks are certainly good pistols if you like them.

I took a real tongue lashing on here when I posted about my 226 Scorpion trigger breaking in the 1st 150 rounds. It seems sometime in 2005-2006ish Sig decided to focus on marketing rather than quality.

The plain jane 226 I got in 2002 however was flawless.

Funny, I'm a big Sig fan and own a few P series but I cannot bring myself to buy a Sig 1911. Just something about the external extractor.

But all P series including X5 have been flawless.

No worries about the external extractor. It is a Caspian design that was fine tuned by Bruce Gray. They work 100%.

I really enjoyed the fit and finish on my Sig 1911 but sold it because I didn't shoot it well. Ran reliably and looked slick.

That being said, the magazines were an exception. Gun came with 2 and they were each different widths. I had a injection molded mag holder and if I tightened the retention to one, the other would not fit. They "looked" similar but there was definitely a variation there.

I've shot the P series but never had a need to buy one. I was doing a training for work clearing double feeds. My company teaches the method where you slap your forearm with your non dominant hand while depressing the mag release. This works fine on a Glock, but the Sigs got jammed up and had to be disassembled.

Naw, just seems that internet BS didn't work on Men who actually use their guns as opposed to computer twinks who read allot.
BTW, the San Jose Meet will be on February 23 for those same twinks to show me how crappie my sig is opposed to their safe queens.
Also, I'm not a Sig fan boy. I only own one. It just happens to be my best shooter. Also own Glock, Ruger and Springfield.
