LOL. Riggghhhht. Because there are TONS of Pythons on Calguns selling in that range.
Just do a forum search here OP. Gunbroker is a national audience with many more options to buy than here in CA. Unless your piece is extremely rare/collectible (and it is not), you'll do a lot better right here on CG. Shaf's estimate is laughable.

Stainless won't typically fetch as much as blued, however I've seen a lot more blue 2-1/2 inchers than 2-1/2 stainless examples.
With no box and light surface scratches, it could do well from $2,600 to $2,900. But I wouldn't be surprised if someone coughed up as high as $3,200 for it, or were to bid it that high in an open auction indicting available as a PPT in CA ( even as is, where is on the buyer's part to meet that requirement).
What I find ironic is that the Python was a target-quality gun, yet the short snub barrel vesions draw the most interest. It's a bit contradictory, other than to say that not as many were made BECASUE it was a target-quality gun.-----------------------------------------------

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?Comment

I sold one last year in better shape for, I think, $2,800. It was part of a package of two Pythons, and am pretty confident I could have gotten more if I had held out and sold them individually, but the buyer was pleasant to deal with, and I was ok with being done with them.Comment

There are no such thing as scratches on a stainless gun.... Go buy some mothers mag polish and a cotton t shirt..Comment

Good point - I've done the same with many of my stainless guns. The only concern is ovepolishing that then gives it a smooth shiny "chrome" appearance. So take a green scour pad and lightly burnish it back to a brushed appearance.-----------------------------------------------

The hand polish will not remove scratches but rather just shine up the gun.
You would need to hit it with a wheel to actually get out the scratches.Comment

If it were mine, I'd ask $3,000 and hope for more.
If it were a 3 inch, were talking $8,000-$10,000.

I recently saw a never fired stainless 2.5" factory ported barrel complete with box and papers for $13,000."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Sir Winston Churchill
