For whatever the Blue Book means with regards to CA and Pythons, electroless nickel is known as "Satin Nickel" and brings a 35% premium. The 2 1/2" Python also brings more than the 4" & 6" versions. In 100% condition the BB lists the gun at $3,850.00. A 100% condition for me would mean including the box & paperwork and original grips. I don't think the grips are original to the gun.

I can't tell if the gun is Satin Nickel or polished stainless, it appears to me me to be polished stainless. The BB lists 2 1/2" stainless and highly polished stainless too. Colt lists serial numbers on their website, I would check there for info.

I'd be leery of buying a Colt ultimate brite polished stainless Python without a factory letter.

Definitely rare! Yeah, do not sell for less than $3000. Do NOT sell it until you have been watching Gunbroker and other sites to know what the real value is.

Did it come with some KY jelly or are factory ported snub Pythons that rare?

No, most likely the KY jelly is extra on top of that price. There is no limit to the python craziness.

I'm also suspicious about the rubber grip not being Colt OEM. Can't say I've ever seen one with the grip screw head on the right side.

My friend bought one last year from my coworker. It was 1975 2.5" blue 99.9% ( likely infired since factory) no box. 100% factory orginal condition (sights , grips etc) . He paid 2500.00 +PPT
