For years and years, I have used Break Free CLP and RIG (Rust Inhib Grease). I recently decided to try this new Frog Lube based on glowing reports. Well, if didn't work out well for me. For the most part, revolvers functioned fine. Semi-Autos were a different story. When the weather turned cold, the Frog Lube turned to a very sticky substance. The slides were very slow and manys times did not cycle at all. Of course, I am going back to my old reliable Break Free and RIG. Since we all use oil and grease on our guns, thought I would pass on my recent experience.

Be sure to ask your doctor if depression, rectal bleeding, and suicide are right for you.

I'll wait here for the butthurt Froglube fanboys to show up.

I'm still lost as to why people insist on using gimmick snake oils. CLP, motor oil, ATF, bearing grease, cosomoline, brake cleaner (acetone), seafoam... they all work. Only thing missing, is a copper fouling solvent.
Gun oil, beyond CLP, is a joke IMO.
What do I use to clean my guns? Clp and occasionally seafoam. Bore brush and eyelet with cotton patches, or a bore snake. AP brush and some q tips.
What lubes them? Marine grease or clp.
Do they work? Yes.Comment

I've read way too many negative things about that stuff to even consider trying it. Applying a lube, grease or CLP should be a simple process. Way too many other reputable products that have been around for a long time for me too waste my time with gimmicks.Last edited by Dimitri A.; 01-23-2016, 5:31 PM.Comment

Still waiting on the fanboys to say in their experience, it works perfectly. Therefore there is no problem with it.
But unable to explain why the solution exists if there isn't a problem with CLP et al.
But you can drink it, and lube a roller coaster.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Plenty of military approved CLP's out there to choose from too that have been tried and tested:
Aprolube
G96
Quicken tactical diamond
Royco 634E
Sent CLP (Otis)
Though no longer on the approved list, I still typically use Brakefree, and have never had issues.Last edited by Dimitri A.; 01-23-2016, 2:07 PM.Comment

Waiting for: you have to cook it up at 500 degrees, melt it into the metal pores, deep scrub it into the metal, etc.....Comment

Seems to me froglube is a solution to a problem that does not exist.
Thanks for sharing, OP.
