Fritzkatt, you are 100% right. Realistically, in the industry of mechanics and machines, our firearms are on the very low end and do not go through any serious kind of metal on metal abuse or any wild friction parties on ecstasy. 90% of these fancy magic fairy lubes, simple oils, and greases will all work just fine for our firearms. Will some work better than others? Of course!

We are hobbyists and its fun to debate and play with different lubes and products. That's what having a hobby is all about, diving in and getting involved in playing scientist, learning, etc...

The lab told me after my test the froglube was a plant based oil mixed with oil of wintergreen and possibly a little paraffin wax.
OR maybe it's just straight coconut oil! haha

I'm wondering the same thing myself. Out of the 100 something posts so far, most have been negative, and only a handful I would characterize as neutral at best: e.g., It's not the best stuff I've ever used, but it seems to work well enough for my needs, etc.

Maybe we're just beating a dead horse at this point. Yes, we know Froglube sucks. and everyone already knows Frogulube sucks. Either that, or we all love to beat up on Froglube, which isn't entirely undeserved - they tried to hoodwink us into believing that it was this new miracle lube/cleaner/protectant, when all it was is re-purposed and re-labeled roller coaster lube. People are understandably pissed because they fell for a scam that's as old as time.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

What "glowing reports"? I feel like it's the most mentioned lube in the title of threads but can't recall one talking about how good it is.

Whats with all the hate. Been using froglube for 7 years no issues. I always clean my firearms with the froggie stuff. After clean up I always use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the metal parts and wipe off the excess and put them back to storage.

even with all the hate (i don't use froglube), it looks like it'd be a good cosmoline substitute aside from the price.

No doubt frog lube is a bust...

I have a split review on Frog Lube.

I bought a new Springfield Loaded 1911 in 9mm a few years back. Right from the start I cleaned it of all oil and lubed it with the Frog Lube paste and it worked as advertised. I really liked that it was a dry lube and how easy it made it to wipe off the carbon build up. In the middle of a match I could take a Q-tip and wipe the feed ramp clean without any problem.

I liked it enough that I used it on my old GP 100 that is about 25 years old and has always been cleaned with Hoppes solvent and oiled with various gun oils. Cleaned all the metal parts in the identical way as I did with the 1911. Wiped all the parts down with alcohol, heated everything up applied the lube and wiped it all down. This time it gummed up within days. I thought maybe I did not clean it enough to get the old oils off so I went through the entire process again. Same thing. Tried it a third time (because I am a slow learner) and it did the same thing.

The only thing I can think of is that after so many years of cleaning with solvent and lubing with oil the GP 100 just has too much residual oil trapped in it. I decided to use up the rest of the bottle of FL on the 1911 and keep oil for everything else.
If I had to describe myself in one word it would be "bad at following directions"

i use motor oil , it is cheap and you get a quart. I do have gun oil and use it if i feel like it. I am not bashful about how much oil i put on a gun. I do not like metal to metal contact on anything mechanical.

The sales reps came in with a blitzkrieg like Amway salesmen telling stories of how it was developed by a Navy Seal (that is a lie, the MSDS is identical to a roller coaster product called "TrackLube"), and repeating the mantra that it's non-toxic... showing how it was non-toxic by eating it at their gun show demos.

No science, no independent testing showing how it was a superior (shudder) LUBRICANT or corrosion protectant... just that it's non toxic and was invented by a Navy Seal.

When confronted with evidence that just maybe it wasn't the best rust inhibitor... "But it's non-toxic and invented by a Navy Seal... come to Costa Mesa and you can watch me eat some!"

When claims surface that it gums up after moderate-term storage... "But it's non-toxic and invented by a Navy Seal... come to Costa Mesa and you can watch me eat some!"

                        I have some.
I had no problem with it.
I use Hoppe's solvent and oil.

I'm waiting for anyone I know to try it and give up on it so I can get a 'donation'

I have zero interest in using it as an internal or rail lube. But I wouldn't mind trying some on the outside of stainless revolver cylinders to see it it'll keep carbon buildup off, or at least make it easy to clean (* the front sides of the cylinder, the front flat face I couldn't care less about- it gets black again in 6 shots).

Hmm... Now that you mention it, that might be a good use for it.
I'll have to give that a try.
