9mm Choice?

If you just want it for recreational shooting, you can't go wrong with the Sig226, or the Beretta 92F. Both are great shoot'n irons. However, consider taking a Browning Hi Power out for an afternoon on the range. It's "old school" to say the least, but it's a fun gun to have on the shelf. It really does feel like gripping "history".

Yes the Hi Power is great after you remove the magazine disconnect. I have one that's been worked over by Don Williams and it's my second favorite gun next to my 9mm 1911. Just for the record, a Hi Power shoots nothing like a 9mm 1911.

3. Decide which you like.
4. Go to LGS.
5. Reach in pocket.
6. Buy gun you like.

yup, this --- but a little change to 2. and 3. while renting:
take a LOT of ammo and fresh targets and a pen to mark your targets.
2. count your 10 ring hits
3. buy that one
and while you are at it, try a H&K USP full size and a compact. I think you will love the way they shoot.

OP answer depends a little on what you want it for.
As noted by several above, try them and go with what you like.

fwiw I chose glock for 9mm, its not the best at anything (except perhaps reliability) but "good enough" and it is stupid simple to operate and so long as you keep your finger out of the trigger guard that's a good thing.

Deepening on your budget but HK VP9 is a great polymer sticker fired gun that'll be super comfortable to most folks.

I've got a S&W 910s and a Ruger p95.........................BUT iffen I were to start over again I'd go the CZ 75 or if I could find a nice one, a S&W 59 series pistol.
