    Great service at Alquist Arms

Your experience was sure different than mine. I was in there yesterday to pickup one of two PPT's that I recently had done there. I have bought many, many guns from Alquist Arms and have had nothing but great service and good prices.

A while back I wanted to treat myself to a really nice gun and bought myself an Ed Brown "Kobra Carry", got the best price I could have gotten anywhere at Alquist.

I think they are a great shop and a good bunch of folks. Lots of people must be as happy as I am with them the store is usually very busy.

Alquist is the best store in the area. DeanJohnson is the only person I've ever seen criticize the place. Maybe he has an attitude problem? He really seems to have a chip on his shoulder about this OLL thing. Some guys are just angry at the world and there is no way to please them.

I too like Alquist, but not sure critizing DeanJohnson is necessary. Sometimes people just don't see eye to eye. He may just have to seek out another shop.

While I like Alquist, there have been some frustrating times with them. It seems like I have had to work harder to buy something from them than they have had to work to sell something to me. When I wanted a scope, I had to call several times, and it still had not come in. Finally, I gave up and asked, what else do you have. When I wanted a SP01, I called them and asked them to have one sent to them. I ended up buying it within 5 minutes of them showing it to me. It would have been better if they had got my info and called me to let me know the item was in, and in the case of the scope, find out why it was taking so long or offer me alternatives. Maybe that type of service is not offered in Gun Stores, not sure since I have been shooting less than a year. But all three of my new guns were purchased there, so overall I been satisfied. Just my $.02.

My question is how old is this DeanJohnson? He got his feelings hurt? Geez man, grow a pair. Don't come on here and slander a good business because of perceptions and assumptions.

Dude, buy a dictionary. Slander refers to false statements that are spoken. I think the word you were looking for was liable. Then again that would have imply that I have lied.

What have I written that you think I am lying about?

And really, are you trying to say I can't tell when a business owner is rude to a customer? Twice?

And again, when I was confronted by the owner, and said "You hurt my feelings." It wasn't because I am weak, or young (I am 43, and both a veteran and a former LEO.) I just didn't want to say in his crowded store "Why do you have to be such an ***?"

I was stunned when he confronted me. I guess I must be old-school, believing that when a small business owner learns that he offended one of their customers, they would appologize. Not complain that they told someone.

Finally, when you say "come on here," where are we? I thought this was Calguns - a great organziation that taught me about OLL being legal. I had no idea that it was inappropriate on this forum to say that a gun shop was anti-OLL, and spreading FUD.

Dude, half the stuff you quoted, was either not about my experience with them (It was me objecting to the idea that a gun owner that would like to own a BB'nd gun is not an undesireable 'type') or even something favorable about them. (I think many gun customers like the no-nonsense just the blunt facts approach.)

So, what you are saying now is that it is incorrect to post on Calguns that a certain gun shop is anti-OLL and spreading FUD. If this is how you feel, why haven't defended all the other gun shops that have been reported as such?

You don't think fighting FUD is good for Calguns?

Finally, do you think it was honorable of him to try and force me to buy a goofy gunlock, he knew I didn't need?

I don't buy guns from Alquist(And I like to buy guns) I know some people that buy LOTS of guns from Alquist and no complaints. Alquist has the best prices on MOST firearms around. I wanted their Ed Brown Special Forces Model but didn't want to pay full retail on it. I think in the gun purchasing business it's best to find one or two shop and stick with them no one else! Like Cheers "where everybody knows your name"

It's your opinion that it was FUD. I don't agree with your assessment and obviously several others do not either. Alquist is a very popular shop in this area and nearly everyone in this thread has good things to say about them.

Also a safety device is required by law as you well know. If you left without buying one it was because you filled out the appropriate DOJ form. So you weren't exactly forced to buy one either were you?

Maybe you were assuming too much about the other party's motives or intents? We don't know because they are not here to give their own version.

However, it seems like the facts speak for themself:
                      • You wanted a gun.
                      • You bought it.
                      • You also asked about OLL. They said no. They have that right.
                      • You got pissed about the OLL thing and started bad mouthing them on Calguns without thinking about your return visit.
                      • You waited 10 days.
                      • You picked it up your gun. You got called on your Calguns comments. You got embarrassed.
                      • They are required to enforce the safety device laws. They asked about a gun lock purchase.
                      • You said no and completed the DOJ safe waiver form instead of the typical lock purchase.
                      • You returned to Calguns to bad mouth Alquist some more because your ego is still bruised.

Sounds like a normal business transaction followed by childish temper tantrum.

Your opinions about what other people may or may not have been thinking about you are not fact. Maybe you thought you'd get sympathy from us? But you are really not helping your cause.

The dealer is responsible for verifying that all guns sold have a CA DOJ approved safety device. If you wanted to use your own safe, you should have printed out the affidavit from the CA DOJ website and brought it in with you when you picked up your gun. You could have handed it to the salesman when you walked in and eliminated the confusion. You had 10 days to worry about that. It's not the clerk's job to finish your paperwork or supply you with the correct waiver forms. I'm not surprised they didn't want to deal with you after reading your comments in this thread. Time to grow up and take some responsibility.

Give it a rest already Dean. None of these people you listed made complaints like yours. In fact most of them still claimed it to be their favorite shop. Are you suffering from a case of OCD on this topic? Don't be such a thread crapper.

Maybe you should read the OP's first comment again. He simply asked how many shop at Alquist. He didn't ask for your opinion on bullet buttons or spiteful commentary.

I don't mean to interrupt a disagreement. But I have to say I have experience with Alquist Arms and almost every time I have had great help and knowledgeable help. I have only had one bad experience and it was a very small thing. I also have experience whith Schells and I had to take the time to drop a recommendation for this wonderful little shop with a very knowledgeable owner. I have had nothing but exceptional service from Carl Schell. Stop by both shops is my recommendation. Support our local gun shops as much as we are able so they are around for a very long time.
