This or That - 1911

I've worked at a gun shop for a few years now, we all shoot Springfield, I'm on my 6th springer, we see a lot of used limbers come in and every single one is always rusted. MC operator hands down

You would think Kimber would just start using stainless steel to make their barrels... seems like common sense.

From my limited experience with both brands, I have found the Springfield to be more accurate. I have not had any reliability issues with either one, and my Kimber has the dreaded external extractor. (Funny how Sig uses an external extractor on their 1911 and I don't hear the P&Ming about it.) I did have a rust spot develop on my Kimber.

Anyway - I would go with the Springer due to my experience and their excellent customer service.

And when I visit the site to see if they are in stock, they are out of stock ahhhhh!!! Great price too for $1099, everywhere else they have them for 1128-1299 .....blah

Flip a coin, it's not night and day. I have a Kimber, it's my favorite 1911 amongst some pretty good company, but it is a Series 70's and over 20 years old.

Which finish do you prefer? I'd most likely go that route.

PS. Personally if I had $1,000 I'd get a 1911 RIA and something else like a shotty, glock, 22 rifle/pistol plinker or what else you don't have but should be in every home. Take a look at my 1911 review linked in my signature if you have the time.

If I had to choose between the two I would take the Springfield MC Operator. But if it was my money I would save a little more and get a Springfield TRP or TRP Operator if you need the rail.
