I like my Gen 3 Glocks but prefer my Gen 4 Glocks. Now that the Gen 4's are off the table, if I wanted a new Glock, wouldn't hesitate to buy a Gen 3.

I was told gen 4 glocks have dual springs and have better recoil. You guys shoot better with gen 4?

I have Gen 3s and Gen 4s but don't have a 3 & 4 in the same model. I think it would be awfully hard to detect a difference just because of the recoil spring.

Yep you heard right - the Gen 3 Glock 26 and 27 have dual recoil springs. I had a Gen 3 27 but sold it after I got a Gen 4 G26. I shoot the 26 much better, that 27 was a handful in .40SW Believe it or not my sister in law carries the Gen 3 G27 as her CCW pistol, she has for years.

Nothing wrong with a Gen 1 Glock 17. A Glock is a Glock.

I've seen slow mo recoil videos of hickock45...gen 4 glock clearly had less recoil in 40 cal. Also he stated gen 4 glock had a better trigger.

Duel recoil springs did not come out on gen 4 Glocks. Dual recoil springs are on the G30sf gen 3.

                    Gen 3 has proven reliability.

They are all Glocks to me. I'd take either happily.

Yes, Gen 3 is perfect, better than gen 4.

Gen 3 is a classic design for the ages.

I looked at a Gen 4 when SSE was around, but decided my slot was better used on something else. Picked up a Gen 3 21SF and have no regrets.

Care to elaborate? Isn't the dual spring found on gen 4 an improvement?

The gen 3 recoil spring for full size worked for all calibers
The gen 3 recoil spring for subcompact worked for all calibers

Now glock has switched over the the dual recoil spring system, each different caliber and size glock needs it's specific tension spring, so interchangability was lost.

The gen 4 disconnect and ejector housing are different aswell, so that kills interchangability aswell.
