Dented casemouths is usually caused by too strong of a recoil spring or whimpy ammo.

This occurs on other platforms as well.

Anyways I am curious about this issue to you guys who say it's a common problem and that the cause is usually the recoil spring -- so what is happening? Recoil spring is too used and weak and... what? Brass hits the slide on the way out?

If the spring was too strong then what would that mean? Slide is returning too fast and hitting the brass on its way out of the chamber? Just curious as to what the theory is.

Oh and in doing a little research I think replacing the recoil spring is a good idea. Thanks J-Cat !

Recoil spring should be changed out at 3k-5k rounds but good idea to do it sooner to see if that fixes the problem.

I owned two .40 glocks not that long ago, a 27 and a 22. I had this issue on both modelds. I think its common. And unless your going to reload i wouldent worry.

I've seen casings with a flat spot before with my G19. It's never caused a malfunction, I don't reload, thus I really don't care.

That's because there are ten million more glocks than anything else. Also, noobs choose them because they're so user friendly, and when one minor thing goes wrong, they post on a forum (not saying the op is one of these!) unlike people who have been around and just deal with stuff themselves instead of posting about it.

Then why do the 40 cal versions still bulge the brass?

The single biggest thing that annoys me about Glocks is the continued use of polygonal barrels with wide chambers.

I have seen many glocks have feeding issues even with their loose tolerances.

I prefer to shoot lead rounds due to cost.

I fix both of those issues by slapping in a used KKM barrel and calling it a day.
