If you're willing to pay more for better quality then get some nato loads. imi federal or winchester can be found in the 270 range plus shipping.

Imo 9mm is still too high priced to stock up. 200 shipped per case is my buy in. You may as well shoot 223 at these prices.
The difference imo is handgun is the hardest one to maintain. I shoot handgun the most and can pickup and shoot any of my rifles (offhand) rifles to handgun transition doesn't work as well

I saw it a couple days ago looking for 10mm... I am trying to find it.

Dunno I think it was Selway or Centerfire, but it is not that price now. Cheapest I could find is $13.75 a box for TULA currently, Centerfire.

Current price of decent 9mm is about 240 shipped. Before a few days ago you could get wolf gold 223 for about 285 shipped.

Now isn't the time to buy 9mm unless you only have a little left.

I don't think 9mm is going much lower. I think you have a generation of new shooters that's used to this price.

Personally I'm fine stockpiling at 210-240 depending on ammo

I must have misread your post. I was under the impression you got a source of .223 at 20c/round

I don't buy 9mm unless it's under 20c/round shipped. I managed to find a few deals about a couple of months ago, but since then, the price went over 20c

There just doesn't seem to be a consistent source for ammo these days. Prices and availability are highly variable. Gunbot.net is where I usually go to review current prices. But even with that there is still the issue of tax and shipping which can both be significant. The place with the cheapest per round cost may not be such a great deal after you factor in tax and shipping.

A couple years ago...right before the shortage began...I started recording my ammo purchases. I track both the price I pay for ammo and those retailers that have decent shipping policies. In late December I paid $.236/round for 1000 rounds of Fed Am Eagle 124gr from Trop...that's out the door including shipping and tax. Didn't think that was too bad in this day and age.

As for brands I like Federal American Eagle, Remington UMC (usually more expensive) and Winchester Nato. Those are my preferred. But I will happily shoot Federal Champion, PMC, Winchester White Box. I haven't tried Speer Lawman, S&B and a couple others so it's interesting to see what people have to say about these.

              Good post btw!

A couple years ago brass cased 223 was never going to be under 400 a case either.

It's typical for 9mm to be 2/3 the cost of 223 ime.

I always hit the Cabelas sales - I don't mess with reloads. You can get major brand brass ammo for .22 or .23 per round if you catch a sale. In the last two months I got CCI Blazer Brass for .22/rd landed on my doorstep and Federal Champion Brass for .23/rd - in increments of 50 with no limits from Cabelas. I stocked up.

I can walk into Walmart almost any day lately and get Federal Champion Aluminum case for .213/rd out the door ($9.99 + tax).

I am tired of picking up brass but I will make the effort if it is 45 ACP.

I got a BHP 9mm that I do not reload for any more. Tula at Walmart is good enough and it is accurate enough out to 25 yards.

The 855 (5.56 ammo) ban is going to trickle over into everything once the panic buyers really get warmed up. Its already happening. We can expect a bit higher ammo prices, even for 9mm until it cools off.

Thank you so much. I have found the catalog on their web-site. Unfortunately it's out of stock and not back-orderable, but it was a very good deal on .45ACP

Has anyone tried this stuff yet? I just got 500 rounds of it, but won't get to try it until I get my new pistol out of jail next week.
