That's a good question. Some CCW trainers advise against doing any trigger work on a carry gun. This is due to potential legal implications that COULD crop up later IF you ever need to use it to defend yourself or another. No hard/fast rule or anything, just a precaution that some view as prudent.

I changed the grips on mine to the Hogue officer with the finger groves. It takes a little work with the dremel in a few places but well worth it imo. If you do attempt it remember - a little at a time, don't over do it, cut some and check.

Very nice pistol! BUT, personally, I wouldn't touch the trigger unless it was too gritty---but then you wouldn't know that until you put a couple of hundred rounds thru it as they tend to smooth-up after some shooting. I can see polishing the feed ramp---just polishing---not removal of any metal.

That entirely depends on you.

Every single 1911 I have ever handled could use some work.

The tolerances between every 1911, even the exact frame and model, always seem to be wide. Some are tight, some are loose, some are gritty, some are smooth.

For example, a smooth, crisp, 6 lb trigger pull is easier to manage than a long, gritty, creepy, mushy 4 lb pull.

I have two EMP pistols. One is at 5 lb 3 oz, the other is at 4 lb 3oz, both factory triggers.

In an adrenaline fueled situation I doubt I'd feel the difference. For target shooting I might want to dress up the triggers slightly, but not for carry. But that's me and everyone should have their gun the way they want it.

The stock trigger has some creek in it. The smith is just going to clean it up a bit

Depends on the county. My county specifically states:
