You really want to know what "in the ever loving eff" that is? That's "virtual shall issue in SB" or what's the same, the newer monkeys preventing anyone from climbing the ladder. I'm sure that at some point someone at the Hoops administration thought that letter was a good idea (even though it really wasn't). The problem is that one administration later, no one in the department has probably sat down and questioned it. Ditto for a lot of what many agencies around the state do in the name of permit issuance.

After all, a right which requires not only your sheriff to sign off on, but your employer and even your neighbors before you can exercise it must be a cherished right indeed. The freedom of having a bunch of people sign off of on your ability to defend yourself is what this country is all about, and what freedom-loving sheriffs around this state are all about, too.

Yes the employer letter requirement needs to be dropped and the state needs to see to it that it is. No one neither your employment or your neighbors should have any say so on your ability or right to protect your self.

Funny...as I type this the top thread in this sub-forum is regarding how pro-CCW the San Berdoo sheriff is based upon their Facebook presence.

How pro-CCW is that sheriff really?

My guess is that political expediency has a lot to do with it. I'm thinking that he may be as pro-2A as he comfortably can so long as there is no possibility of political fallout. That could explain why that over-the-top CYA letter is part of the process.

His issuance process is definitely very liberal and a lot of folks have the permits to show for it, but it's not consistent with someone who believes that carry is a right. It's more along the lines of someone who believes that carry should be allowed, but that it's not necessary a right.

I'd mostly agree with that. It's allowed as long as that issue gets him votes with no liability on the back end. Pretty standard politico chickenpoop stuff.

CCW - Carry CONCEALED Weapon ... "conceal means conceal" conceal from view, conceal from conversation ... conceal - even from your employer. Though License To Carry (LTC) is public information, that simply DOES NOT mean to broadcast information of an employees personal decision to obtain an LTC/CCW.

We do not do this here, in Mendocino County there is NO such thing as a Work Verification Letter

                verb

verb: conceal; 3rd person present: conceals; past tense: concealed; past participle: concealed; gerund or present participle: concealing

keep from sight; hide. "a line of sand dunes concealed the distant sea"

synonyms: hide, screen, cover, obscure, block out, blot out, mask, shroud, secrete More

                "clouds concealed the sun"

•hidden, not visible, out of sight, invisible, covered, disguised, camouflaged, obscured; private, secret.

•keep (something) secret; prevent from being known or noticed.
"love that they had to conceal from others"
